Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    May be contact Alpha, they have fixed another issue like this in the latest per-release candidate.

    'Features

    REST Service - PATCH - When defining a REST API, you can now use the PATCH verb.

    UX Component - Multi-select Tokens Control - Right to Left - You can now configure the Multi-select Tokens Control to display right-to-left

    UX Component - Control Bar - Buttons - Pre-defined Action - List Column Selector - When you add a new button item to a Control Bar a new pre-defined button type is available. The 'List Column Selector' will open a drop-down window allowing you to select which columns in a list should be shown.

    Hi Glen

    Yes I have tried using the loadclass() in a few places even on the a5w page that calls the Swagger page so I could test these, I have rebooted the server many times but no luck

    In the end I tested from my browser and all my calls return the correct data with correctly formatted JSON data

    I have no idea what I am doing wrong, but the browser test will do for now, my next thing is to try out the curl commands.

    Kind Regards
    Andy

    Hi Andy

    loadclass() explicitly loads the class so in theory takes care of any changes made to the class but restarting the alphaserver should also force a reload. Have you tried restarting the server to see if that sorts it?

    started a topic API LoadClass

    API LoadClass

    Hi All

    I am working on REST API's and making them was very easy until I added a new Class as in define class REST::ElectromistAPIservice Now I just don't seem to be able to get them to work when I publish to the server but they work just fine within the Web Services builder/Live Test API I think is something to do with the comment below which is shown by A5 when creating a new Class.
    'IMPORTANT - WEB APPLICATIONS: If you are using this class definition in Xbasic code in a web application, after you publish a new version of the class definition,
    'you must call the loadclass() function at least once before you DIM an instance of the class. For example: loadClass("mynamespace::mySampleClass")
    Where would I use the loadClass() function referenced above? is it before I open the page to swagger or in the REST.ElectromistAPIservice.a5xbclass file as below?

    Code:
    define class REST::ElectromistAPIservice

      loadClass("REST::ElectromistAPIservice")

       function SimpleCall as p()

         dim p as p
         p.name = "Andy"
         p.Last = "Meer"
         p.town = "Atherstone"

         SimpleCall = p

       end function
    end Class
    Any help given would be greatly appreciated

    Kind Regards
    Andy
