Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

List Control does not refresh with Update, Insert or Delete data javascript action

I did my best to see if someone else in the Forums is having the same issue and could not find such a case. I am running the latest pre-release version of Alpha 12.

I have a UX component with a parent list control and its detail view that constitutes my main form. It also has a child list control within a tab control.
There is a button that I have set to run the built-in javascript action "Update, Insert or Delete data. (for use with an UNBOUND component)".
I have configured this action to perform an Insert, and also to refresh the child list control.

It performs the insert successfully, but does not refresh the child list control to show the newly inserted record.
I know the insert was successful, because if I close out of my Working/Live preview and go back in and view the UX component mentioned above, then the child list control shows the newly inserted record.

Anyone else experiencing this same problem? Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

I have a similar problem on a list control with a detail VIEW, my problem is simpler: I used the predefined buttons for save and refresh. The list detail view saves(updates dirty fields) however the refresh button goes inactive after the save. Like Steve the record is updated, but the detail view fields do not refresh, and the button dims. I can go to another record in the list but the refresh button remains inactive. It seems at that point that the list is hung up until the whole page is refreshed. If I view with the error placeholders I get the data to be submitted info, but the second placeholder server side sql commands does not display. What would cause the refresh button to become inactive?

I think I may have been selecting refresh all rows, not certain about that. I deleted the pre-defined buttons and then recreated them I selected refresh dirty rows only within the button builder, and now the list detail view is refreshing.I've found the list control to be quirky. I get inconsistent behavior in different ways. For instance the way I ordered my join caused dirty fields not to be seen. I reordered it putting a twice used table, that I made not updatable last, and then the fields showed as dirty and the sql update was completed.

Its one step forward and two steps back, I would be interested to know if anyone else is seeing inconsistencies when using a list control? Its almost to the point where i'm not sure what I am going to get when I open a UX with a list. Very difficult to nail down cause, and effect.

It depends a bit on if your child list data is pre-fetched when your parents loads (as in an offline scenario). If so, I believe you'd need to run a .refreshListData method on your parent List. This would cause a chain event refresh to your child list. If the child data is not pre-fetched then you could run a .refreshListData method on the child list after your CRUD operation. Since you're the one looking after CRUD, you must also tell the List to refresh.
