Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Delete Multiple rows from a list

    Hi,
    I have a list (that might be synced or no) that contains a bunch of records.
    I want to delete all the records matching certain criteria.
    It's been a week I am stuck :(

    I tried the following code with no luck

    var lObj = {dialog.object}.getControl('lstinvoices');
    mLenght = lObj._data.length ;
    var ii = 0;
    var interval = setInterval(function(){
    mBasketData = lObj._data[ii].basketid ;
    if(mBasketData == mBasketId){
    lObj.setValue(ii) ;
    {dialog.object}.setValue('LSTBASKETDET',ii)
    lObj.deleteRow() ;
    }

    ii++;
    if(ii == mLenght) clearInterval(interval);
    }, 1000);

    It seems the set value is not working, another issue with the logic, once I remove a row, then the index of the existing items will change..

    Thank you in advance for any input

    Paul,
    I would approach this a bit differently. I just tried this using a static list made up of sample data using the name and addresses that come with the sample data.

    Using that data, I used this code on a button to remove the people from NY on this list.

    var lObj = {Dialog.object}.getControl('list1');
    var _data = lObj._data;
    var len = _data.length;
    var _d = [];
    debugger;
    for (i=0;i<len;i++){
    if (_data[i].State == 'NY'){
    _d.push(i);
    }
    }
    lObj.removeRows(_d);
    This creates an array _d and removes those lines within the array. Remember the array and the list line numbers are zero based. So, for your situation, I suspect it would be something like this:

    var lObj = {Dialog.object}.getControl('lstinvoices');
    var _data = lObj._data;
    var len = _data.length;
    var _d = [];
    debugger;
    for (i=0;i<len;i++){
    if(_d[i].mBasketData == _d[i].mBasketId){
    _d.push(i);
    }
    }
    lObj.removeRows(_d);
    I'm not sure about the if(mBasketData == mBasketId) part. If you need further help, let us know.

      Hi Jay,
      Thank you for the answer.
      I forgot to specify that the list has a detail view.
      I did try the removeRows method, but it did not sync the data back to the server.
      it is a disconnected app. so the row might be synced back to the server or might be just dirty.
      When I tried the removeRows method, it did actually remove it from the list but in case the row was saved back to the table, it did stay in the table.

      Thank you again for any additional help.

        So you want to get the ids from the list, put them into the array, and send the array to an Xbasic AJAX callback and delete the rows from the server, correct?
        I don't have time right now, but will give you the code for this later. What is the name of the ID field in the list?

          Hi Jay,
          Thanks a lot for your help, I really appreciate it.
          I got the code to run at last...
          an AJAX callback does not work, since I don't if the data in the list are synced or no... I need to mark the record as deleted so it gets deleted when it is synced back.
          This is the code that worked for me, it needs some cleanup and more in-depth testing.

          Thank you again for the answer and help..

          mBasketId={dialog.object}.getValue('list::lstinvoices::basketid');

          var lObj = {dialog.object}.getControl('lstinvoices');
          mLenght = lObj._data.length
          var i;
          i=0 ;
          var arr1 = [] ;
          for (i = 0; i < mLenght; i++) {
          arr1.push(i);
          }
          alert(arr1);
          var ii = mLenght-1;;
          var interval = setInterval(function(){
          mValue = lObj._values[ii] ;
          mBasketData = lObj._data[ii].basketid ;

          if(mBasketData == mBasketId){

          i1=Number(ii);
          lObj.setValue(mValue) ;

          var opts = {};
          opts.prompt = false;
          lObj.deleteRow(opts) ;
          mits={dialog.object}.getValue('list::LSTBASKETDET::qty');
          }

          ii--;
          if(ii <= -1) clearInterval(interval);
          }, 3000);
