Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

I have a problem with the embedded component in the latest release.
I have a ux wilt around 7 embedded component. I have 3 that are not working. While it was working in previous releases.
In the debugger it return "error 500 server crash"

If I create a new ux and insert the component it works.
it is just not working in that specific ux..
any Idea how I can debug?

Try the "Recalculate All Controls" for each component and republish.

It is fixed but I don't know how :(
What I am writing is not logical but this is what happened.
it is one of Alpha Secret...

I started removing all controls one after the other it didn't work.
Then I started to remove the arguments and it worked.
I restored the original copy then remove an argument and re-created it (exactly the same) and now the ux is working.
I have no idea how it got resolved but now it is working, I worked 3 days on this..

Just wanted to write my finds.

I've gone through that too. In the end, I think one or more controls need to be saved and then recompiled in the current development version to match the server build. Usually, the Recalculate All Controls does the job. The larger the component, and the more client-side features, the more likely this will be needed and that it'll work. At least that's my experience.

Augments have been changed the encrypted method, I'd say when you recreated the Arg - the correct code was generated. - Just a guess.

I have had nothing but trouble with the latest releases and I think the argument thing is what has been the culprit. Like others have said often recalculate and upload solves most issues. Its a tough thing to go through every time I try a new release, especially with a larger application

I will say that Alpha has been VERY fast to look into any issues I have had - support has been above and beyond excellent

In one of our apps we simply had to rebuild almost everything. It was a big pain. We ran the update process on all components and removed and readded controls, but ultimately had to start a brand new component and add things back in there one step at a time. Luckily that one was a small app. Our larger apps we haven't even tried beyond 7295.

I am stuck on 7295 as well - same issue with embedded components. I wish that in the next update they would include some routine to re-write the arguments or something as that is what I keep coming back to when trying to fix components to run the latest release. I have so many components in my app it is too time consuming right now to go in and fix them all. Users seem to find them rather quickly, lol. New users just think my application sucks so for now I am just back there until I have time to spend fixing everything to fix what gets broken. All in all I look forward to being on the latest release tho

I asked Selwyn if this is to protect the Argument value in xbasic, how come on of the methods of setting the value from a control on the client side - the question remains unanswered, this change impacted me greatly, and I think it was all for nothing really, not everyone needs to comply with Hipaa or the like, especially those business running behind a VPN, it should have been a choice - explain the pros and conns - and let the developer or client paying decide with a simple check-box. We are not fools.
