Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Multiple Javascript actions

    HI all

    I seem to have continuing issues when trying to do several things passing Javascript from basic, for example with this code i want to do the following

    1) Display a message
    2) Close an A5_msgbox (which has previously been called with a Javascript action on a button)
    3) Close the UX

    My Code is

    send_email = "alert('Your email Message has been sent');" (This is OK and displays the message

    then I have

    send_email = send_email + "A5.msgBox.hide();"

    send_email = send_email + "{dialog.Object}.closeContainerWindow('ENQUIRYACTION');"

    However these two commands do not seem to run in the browser

    If anyone can help me with the Syntax and I would be grateful

    thanks

    john

    Did you try sending all the commands in one line like this:

    send_email = "alert('Your email Message has been sent'); A5.msgBox.hide(); {dialog.Object}.closeContainerWindow('ENQUIRYACTION');"

      There are a couple better (better in my opinion anyway) way to handle this. Which one you choose would depend on the use case.

      In the first screen shot all of the needed JS code is combined and returned as one. In the second we run some action JavaScript instead. The second and third screenshot also runs the JS synchronously (one at a time). That may, or may not, be important depending on your use case.

      Also notice I through in some error handing in the xbasic function. It's always a good idea to have a Plan B incase the core code fails. In this case that Plan B would be to log the error and let the user know something went wrong. I hope this all helps.

          HI Chaps

          Sorry , I appear to be struggling closing a windows in another project now. This project was originally created in Alpha and has been working until we migrated to 12...

          On my Grid Object I call a UX , I then want to close the UX after some xbasic code has executed ..

          On the properties of my grid object , I have set the Window name. (in alpha 11 I used <span id >

          Then in the UX component I am calling the closeWindow method

          Attached are some screen shots,

          I would very much appreciate any help you can give on this
