Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    panel footer not visible

    In my mobile app My panel footer is not visible until I physically change rotation on the android tablet. when I first load the panel the panel footer does not show. Once I change the rotation the panel footer shows and stays on. I wonder what causes that?

    *note
    I should have searched first. It looks like I am not the only one that has this problem. I am trying the suggestions now.

    What mobile browser are you using ?
    Are you on a pre-release or the latest build of AA ? There has been a fix for the issue. A workaround before the fix existed that helped me was:

    this code in the clientside onRenderComplete event:

    var p = {dialog.object}.panelGet('PANELCARD_1'); <<< replace 'PANELCARD_1' with name of your TOP LEVEL panel
    p._sizeWindow();

      Re: panel footer not visible

      Thanks for the suggestions Frank. I will try the latest build to see if that solves the problem. I tried the other suggestions from other threads with no change in the panel footer.
      In my app my top level panels, panel footer display properly. It is the second, third and fourth panels that have a problem. In those panels I have a list that is set to fill the container and I have a fixed footer. I think that combination is causing the issue. The panel with no fixed footer and list set to fill container displays properly.
      I am using the stock android 'kit kat' browser but I get the same result with chrome and ff. I will let you know how the latest build does.

        Re: panel footer not visible

        I have updated to the latest build and I still was unable to get the footer to display. I put this code
        var p = {dialog.object}.panelGet('PANELCARD_1'); <<< replace 'PANELCARD_1' with name of your TOP LEVEL panel
        p._sizeWindow();
        in the tab button that opens the page and it works occasionally. I put a time delay but that did not help.

        What is interesting is that the footer acts the same way in working preview when using one of the mobile display modes.

        Anyhow this has forced me to look at how my mobile application is laid out. I have had to re-do all of my forms for portrait use as I was having issues with the popup keyboard blocking the controls and not moving into view in landscape mode. Now in portrait mode I have moved all of the controls to the top of the form so the popup keyboard does not interfere. Because of the footer issue I have moved all of the controls in my panel footer container to a panel header container which works much better for me.

        I still have some summary values in fixed footers of lists that does not render until the device is rotated from landscape to portrait. It seem to be a problem with child list controls.

          Re: panel footer not visible

          You must be doing something else with your app that you've not reported... something specific to your setup. I just created a new UX, using the 3 PanelCard Template... added Lists to all Panelcards, set to fill, added footers to all Panelcards... and all footers display as expected. You mention a panel footer but that could be PanelNavigator, PanelLayout, PanelCard... since all 3 controls are, in effect, panels. I'm using the current pre-release but haven't seen this behaviour in prior releases. I'm also running Android, current OS, on a Nexus 7. If this persists then you should build a test UX that exhibits this behaviour and post it here.

            Re: panel footer not visible

            Thanks David, I was referring to panel footers in panel cards. I am sure you are correct it is something in my application. I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 controls over 40 containers and 6 panel cards. with the exception of a few layout issues and the lists fixed footer issue it works perfectly no errors and the data integrity is perfect. I am not sure of how I can troubleshoot the fixed footer problem. I imagine that if I created a test case without all of the controls and containers it will work OK. It starts out well with the first list and panel card that is loaded rendering completely.

            An interesting note. In my desktop browser the fixed footer of the list control set to fill container in the child panel cards is always off of the bottom of the screen unless I put absolute dimensions in the list control.

              You could save a test copy of your ux then step by step delete / change controls to the point where the problem disappears

                Thanks for the suggestion Frank. If it were a 'show stopper' for me that is what I would do. The essential parts are working fine. I will have to get back to this one when I have more time to troubleshoot.
