Thank you for taking a look at my post

Steps to reproduce: Following the video on cascaded list controls using the Country and Cities table, simply change the control on the detail view of the child cities table into a dropdown. Im not really good at describing the problem so i made a video instead. I hope you guys can take a look (its a short one)

At the end of the video, you will see that values are passed in but somehow the database is not getting updated.

I believe it's not updating data because you're sort of violating the process that you asked for... a Parent/Child setup based on keys... and you're changing the keys. What the Lists are doing, it seems, is using the data provided to link the 2 Lists. I understand that you're allowing the change of the Child Key into the Parent... but, strickly speaking, it's not quite cricket.

However, it doesn't mean you can't do it. You can create your own Parent/Child List setup... and... be able to change the keys.

Change the Child List so that it no longer has a Parent. When you view this List now, you should see all rows.

In the Parent List, onSelect Event, put this...

{dialog.Object}.__currId = this.selectionData[0].id;

var listObj = {dialog.object}.getControl('listChild');
listObj.refresh();

You'll need to change "id" to your parent list key field and "listChild" to your child list name.
What happens here is when a row is selected in the Parent list, we're saving the id and then refreshing the Child list. This refresh is just a redraw of the rows available to the List... not an Ajax Callback.

In the Child List, List Properties, Filter... put this...

data.PId == {dialog.Object}.__currId

Change "PId" to the Parent key field name that exists in your Child List.

Now, when the Child List is refreshed, this filter will kick in... making the Child List filter on the selected Parent List key.

And... now you can use your dropdown to change the Parent Key displayed in the Child List. When you save the Child row, the row will disappear because it no longer satisfies the filter.

You are absolutely correct! It was a proof of concept we were trying to do. We are trying to port some of our applications and see if Alphasoftware fits the profile.
