Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Working Great all year update and publish and now Server Error

I just updated a pre-existing grid that been in use all year and the publishing hangs up at the uploading file a5_application.a5i to a5_application.a5i and then when the message goes away, any of my users get a 500 Internal Server Error /Error Processing a5_application.a5i not found.. I contacted Zebra host but want to see if there is something on my end and not theirs

My guess is the missing file never made it.
What method do you use to publish to zebrahost ? (I publish local, the copy and paste using RDP

I have been using FTP for years and published several times this year with it. It just started hanging up today.

If I get a publishing error during an upload like that it kills everything as well - I usually just restart AA and reupload or restart that AND my server and upload again. If all else fails do the old copy and paste. Doesn't seem likely it has anything to do with zebrahost at all

I agree with Charles.. also - I have only ever developed RDP on my servers - never on a local machine, now every things is so fast these days - it's a perfect set up. you never need to ftp anything, its all just there.

I also powered up another computer and published from that with the same results, so may be an issue with Zebra. I am checking with them

I've published and republished to zebrahost a few times today, and I expect I'll be doing more.
I copy everything from the local webroot\<project folder> , then paste it into the zebrahost webroot\<project folder>.
I develop locally because I hate being down when the internet is down.

                  when the internet is down.
Here in Australia they have created the NBN - National Broadband Network - Fiber to the Node and now we have Fiber to the home - no copper at all. So we don't have those issues any more. Between 50Mbps and 100Mbps all the time :-)

ZebraHost is reporting back to me that SSL is all gone ("blown up") and they are working on it. Hopefully this will fix the issue

Ok, now zebrahost is saying its a Alpha issue. THe publishing hangs at the last file a5_application.a5i and that is the error i get when try to run the grid in a browser

I would publish the project to a local folder and copy the contents through cut and paste to the server. Once that is done you might find the publish will work again as expected. OR you could turn on error logs in the server and review those but honestly I would try the first method as its no longer a matter of trying to figure out the root cause of the error at this point. Hopefully you won't see this again and it won't matter.

The files for your environment are here:
                          ....WebProjects\Default.WebProject\__staging.staging\[publishing profile].
This is where Alpha produces the files--based on the defined variables and settings and connection strings, etc--before publishing them to the remote server. If you copy and paste from a different folder, the files may have different variables/settings/connection strings.
