What do you mean by "template"? Are you looking for sample applications? Alpha has a GitHub account where they post new sample applications: https://github.com/alphaanywhere/

No, there is nothing out there, that I am aware of, that is free.

That is not good, how would you now encourage new developer on this platform to learn.

I remembered seeing something a while back. Someone was distributing their SaaS framewowrk for free. I think it was this one: http://www.alphasoftware.com/alphafo...framework+free

In all honestly, though, building your own framework from scratch in Alpha is pretty easy. I would encourage you to do that instead of grabbing one of these other frameworks to learn since they usually don't include access to all of the source code used to create them. EG, Xbasic is usually compiled and distributed as an .aex file - which, to my knowledge, you can't decompile. And getting a grasp on the security framework is much easier if you add it yourself instead of grab a package with it turned on.

I don't come from a software development background. When I first started I worked with another developer that had several years experience using Alpha and any questions I had I asked him. Also utilized this forum (and still do) frequently. Then there is paid support I've used on occasion (not Alpha's but other developers). Trial and error. YouTube videos. Alpha's wiki. Twin Peaks has an entire xbasic series (http://twinpeaksresearchllc.com/). And finally, like Sarah already mentioned, the component templates.

I learned how to use SQL and javascript almost entirely my asking questions here in the forum, Google searches, and YouTube. If you're new to developing there is definitely a learning curve to over come but that goes with anything new people try.

You will want to watch the videos on login components, tabbed ui, and security to start. You can search for those terms on their channel.

i do not know what you are trying to do. html pages or a5w pages are all rendered by alpha server without any problem. so if you see some html template you like with navigation, import that into your alpha project and publish it then alpha server will show exactly as it is in any other server like apache. then you would want to add your components to that page (or pages involved in the navigation) then create the component save it. right click on the component and follow along the steps for adding this component to a5w page. once it is saved then rename your htm page as a5w or save as a5w page. do this every page where you added the component, now you will have working alpha menu system.
this is for free template approach.
