Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    DBF based reports not printing on new server

    I have a client who has a legacy app they want to move to a new server. The app has a mix of dbf and passive and active link SQL tables. The reports were originally written in the "old" control panel and are working on the current server.
    I copied the development folder to the new server, and published. The tabbed ui works, and other components load, but the reports are not working. Here is the message I am getting:

    Report did not print because the Data Dictionary that contains the Report definition was not found.
    Missing Data Dictionary: \Encrypted:eP/2SnuFpQsIeIAtf+ZX4g==\invoiceline_web.set

    The encryped part in application.a5i is:

    Dim _aliases_ as c
    _aliases_ = <<%txt%
    [PathAlias.ADB_Path]|Encrypted:eP/2SnuFpQsIeIAtf+ZX4g==

    And in the alias section of the publishing profile:

    [PathAlias.ADB_Path] = =a5.get_path()

    And when add I a report to a new UX and try viewing it in live preview, I get this:

    Report did not print because the Data Dictionary that contains the Report definition was not found.
    Missing Data Dictionary: [PathAlias.ADB_Path]\users.ddd

    I believe this is all realted.

    So why am I having this issue? What can I do to resolve it?

    Thanks,
    Jay

    Not sure but I'm thinking the path is wrong. Here's one that I'm using in a WEB app running using dbf files.

    Code:
    Dim _aliases_ as c
    _aliases_ = <<%txt%
    [PathAlias.ADB_Path]|E:\Alpha 5V12 Applications\Tom_Cone\SecTech_Developmental_UX_2999_Mobile
    %txt%
    I realize mine is not encrypted, but maybe you need to verify the same folder structure.

        I also have some dbf tables and the grids and reports are giving me the same error, Alpha is adding that encrypted part in the folder structure path.

          Sorry, after posting this I realized it's connection strings, not path alias.

            Thanks. I think I have this solved. For some reason, un-encrypting it send to have done the trick.

              PDF Reports based on sets are not working at least with dbf tables. Getting this error, on all reports based on sets.

              Report did not print because the Data Dictionary that contains the Report definition was not found.

                If I revert the alpha build to 8446 it works. So, something has changed or broken along the way. I did uncheck the Encrypt the connection string option. The grids are working after that, but not the reports based on sets.

                  Looks like a bug report might be appropriate here.

                    I reported it a few days ago and it seems it is corrected in today's Nightly build 8507.
