Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    embedded grids on tab panes only showing data on first pane

    I have a UX with six tab panes each with an embedded grid. The data shows up fine on the first tab pane, but when I select one of the other tabs, all I get is "Working..." forever. I checked to see if it was the grid by re-arranging the tab pane order. No matter which tab pane is first, the data shows up for it, but not the others.

    Any ideas?

    I am using the latest version of Alpha (12.3 Build 2999)

    Thanks

    Anything else showing up is subsequent panels I.e a ux component? Need to determine if this is simply grid issue or all component issue. Security on? Are all controls in same project and have been published? This final one might be the culprit.

      Re: embedded grids on tab panes only showing data on first pane

      All grids in same project, all tabpanes on same tab control on same UX. All published. If I move any of the tab panes to be the first tab, then the data shows up, so not a problem with the grid itself.
      Each tabpane has an embedded grid. A couple of the tabpanes also have a button control.

      I tried to upload a Word doc with screen prints, but got an upload error.

        my version is older than yours and all appears ok. Please find attached
        ux_tab_and_grids.zip

        You could try and force issues with an action similar to what a button would do.
        1). Create a temporary button that will be used to define an ajaxcallback function to open one of the grids.
        2). Create/add a new tab control to the ui and on its "onDynamicLoad" action, place this code
        {dialog.object}.buttonClick('<Your button above>')
        See if this helps.

          If Kotin's suggestion doesn't work, can you try loading the grid in the panels when they GO to the panel instead of in advance?

            Re: embedded grids on tab panes only showing data on first pane

            This function is called when changing tabs:

            function count_tickets() {
            var readycnt = {dialog.EmbeddedGrid_READYTOLOADGRID}._rowsInGrid;
            {dialog.object}.setValue('readytoload',readycnt,true);

            var existingcnt = {dialog.EmbeddedGrid_EXISTTICKSGRID}._rowsInGrid;
            {dialog.object}.setValue('existing',existingcnt,true);

            var dupcnt = {dialog.EmbeddedGrid_DUPLICATETICKETSGRID}._rowsInGrid;
            {dialog.object}.setValue('duplicates',dupcnt,true);

            var existwrongtribecnt = {dialog.EmbeddedGrid_EXISTINGWRONGTRIBEGRID}._rowsInGrid;
            {dialog.object}.setValue('existingwrongtribe',existwrongtribecnt,true);

            var wrongtribecnt = {dialog.EmbeddedGrid_WRONGTRIBEGRID}._rowsInGrid;
            {dialog.object}.setValue('wrongtribe',wrongtribecnt,true);

            var baddatecnt = {dialog.EmbeddedGrid_FUTUREDATEGRID}._rowsInGrid;
            {dialog.object}.setValue('futuredate',baddatecnt,true);

            var totcnt = readycnt + existingcnt + existwrongtribecnt + wrongtribecnt + dupcnt + baddatecnt;
            {dialog.object}.setValue('processed',totcnt,true);

            }

            In live Preview, it returns this error:
            'DLG1_EXISTTICKSGRID_GridObj' is undefined

            On this line: var existingcnt = {dialog.EmbeddedGrid_EXISTTICKSGRID}._rowsInGrid;

            I cut and pasted the grid alias from the Component Alias so I know the spelling is correct. It has no problem with the previous 'READYTOLOADGRID' syntax.
            I just don't get it. How could it be undefined?

              Re: embedded grids on tab panes only showing data on first pane

              Stumbled onto something.
              The code to dynamically load embedded components is dynamic in that, if you add your code in here, it messes up with this dynamic setup. just edit this code and see for yourself. I have added an alert, tried to open the ux and as you stated, the grid never gets loaded. Check back the code and you will see that the alert message now is the first line after the dynamic line

              Code:
              alert("msg");
              {dialog.object}._functions.runAction_98d079f3_a81a_439a_b059_f6218544c540();
              Added the code/function in tabs onChange and appears ok, the grid/embedded will have been loaded at this point hence can interrogate it.

              Update: Loved this, been to some pretty cul de sac and some nasty ones with it. Hoped an A5 this then that would work but failed. Error appears that the grid is not available for the check you doing. Have redone it using injectibles, button on-click suggested earlier should also work. Here's the file.
