Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Does anyone have any A5 IIS examples they would allow us (members) to view?

I am curious about the performance level of A5/IIS. I would really like to view some examples of real or prototyped sites using this technology. The actual application is not important so therefore the subject of the app is in-material. If you have an app that you don't mind getting a little exposure, please post a URL here. Otherwise if your app needs to be kept "mostly quiet", please PM me.

I trust some of you will respond with the spirit in which this request is being made. Also any links made to such apps, or videos referencing same, even if not made by yourself will be appreciated.

    Thanks.

My application works, looks, feels almost exactly the same on both servers. The pages served by the IIS load faster. I don't think you are going to see any difference in the look with a slight difference in the feel.

Today performance is more question of application design. IIS serves html pages and AA plugin serves .a5w pages. So IIS is much faster than AA plugin.

If performance is issue then you should serve just pure html pages to browser and use just ajax to get data from server (IIS or AA plugin) and forget totally inline xbasic.
This is easier to say than done in practice using AA but with UX this kind of application is possible. But this kind of design is much easier to accomplish with frontend framework that has been designed to this purpose for example Angularjs or with any other modern frontend framework.

My experience with the native Alpha webserver is that it has been crazily slow. My experience stops in December 2014 as I had to concentrate elsewhere for the last few months so there is a chance that improvements have been made in the time intervening.

As of September 2015, I am back to re-coding my app. I have purchased the IIS extension and hope to begin rudimentary testing and comparison in the next week and hopefully before the 2015 Alpha Dev conference.

I'll follow this thread in the event others have input and I will endeavor to offer some measured results when my own applications are running with the IIS plugin.

According to Selwyn, you will not likely see any performance benefits when the server is not under load.
The benefit of IIS is a result of machine utilization, meaning better performance under load.
So if you had 100 simultaneous users running on a multi-core machine, you will get better throughput on IIS than you will on the Alpha Server.

Where are the links to sample apps using A5 and IIS?

I am looking for any kind of links to A5 apps running on IIS ( sample or real, from Alpha or from individual developers ).

If you know of a link, please post it here or PM me. Please!!!
