Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Generating Barcode on UX

    Greetings everyone,

    I am interested in creating a barcode that contains first name, family name, ID, and other relevant information, as a part of the submission process, I aim to dynamically generate a barcode that encapsulates the information being submitted to the database from that UX component.

    I would greatly appreciate any insights or suggestions on how to accomplish this within the context of the Alpha.

    Thank you for your assistance in advance.

          Gregg!!
          I miss you man ! i had no intend to write your lovely name in a wrong way! that was my mistake sorry!

          My question is, how can I generate a barcode when I click the "Save" button? I want the barcode to incorporate both the name and phone number from the text fields. This way, when someone scans the barcode, it will display the corresponding name and phone number.
          Then I want to save it in mySql Database

          Could you assist me with this? Your help is greatly appreciated.

          i tried to go through forums post, am still looking !

            I pointed you to QR codes because they seem to offer what you want.
            A barcode typically is a unique key that leads to an item/product in a database.

            A QR code is capable of containing multiple rows of data.

              In my Council app, I create QR codes as it is easier for villagers to scan from a notice board where printed docs have to be posted.
              Definitely QR is best, but it's your train set.

                      that's what i did away from alpha
                      using set and get elements by id and a javascript function

                      function generateBarcode() {
                      var name = document.getElementById("name").value;
                      var phone = document.getElementById("phone").value;
                      var text = name + " - " + phone;

                      var canvas = document.getElementById("barcodeCanvas");

                      console.log("Canvas:", canvas);

                      var opts = {
                      bcid: 'code128', // Barcode type
                      text: text, // Text to encode
                      scale: 3 // Barcode scale factor
                      };

                      bwipjs.toCanvas(canvas, opts, function (err, cvs) {
                      if (err) {
                      console.log("Barcode generation error:", err);
                      } else {
                      console.log("Barcode generated successfully");
                      }
                      });
                      }

                      working like a charm !

                      i realized then no need to store it in mysql and if i need to i think i'll need to create a blob field

                      try it and let me know what you think :)

                      thanks Gregg!

                          Makes for a long barcode.
                          I'll stay with QR codes.

                              this is a function which you can write in javascript section.
                              all you gotta do is call that function on button click as
                              generateBarcode();

                              that's it !
                              but I see your point, with alpha qr function it's easier to manipulate the data submitted from e object.

                              thank you for your comment !

                              is this bar code really belong to joseph baiden ?
