Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

It's a bit old, but there is a set of videos which is a decent intro but not as in depth as one would like.

I think the second link I posted in my response might be what you are thinking of ... it was probably included if you got a package deal of some sort.

Jetson, I wrote a lengthy response and I guess I just closed the window without posting...I have to agree to say that there is NO html website editor out there like xara or webplus that you can create a page with fields and some nifty layout and expect it to work with alpha like it was married to it. I know RIGHT where your coming from on this but unfortunately no-one at alpha does - or at least is making an effort to meld the two and in my opinion that would be the END ALL BE ALL turning point for ANY database driven RAD tool. A WYSIWYG dev tool - so far its not impossible but by all means it is near it, although Alpha is as close as it gets. I challenge them to create it - to develop it.

So until then your options are this, create the page you want your UX to sit in - copy the html to your a5w page - and to help you position fields you can create an absolute layout. This will require much patience and time but it is achievable...

Good news! I think Wordpress and Alpha Anywhere can also be combined. Which is even better than on Xara only. Hope there will be a video tutorial on this soon!

Re: Xara Web Designer and Alpha

I have been hoping for sometime now, that Alpha would come out with modern looking themes or better support Bootstrap, etc. I know it appears that their roadmap has better support in the future...but we will have to see!

I developed this site: http://www.omea-ohio.org which uses iframes and lightbox modals to display alpha based UX components. It does a pretty good job, but the speed is not as good as a alpha only approach. The other downside is that security is not currently involved, although I will be adding that soon.

Any page in the navigation menu with the magnifying glass beside it is an alpha page. In addition there are numerous others that appear in the site using lightbox modals. Those will be buttons that have a magnifying glass on them. The lightbox real estate gets a bit tight on a phone but it does work. On iOS devices, there is an occasional shift on screen as the user interacts with drop downs. From what I can tell, this is caused by iOS shifting the choices out of the frame a bit......the issue does not happen on Android.

The majority of the alpha ux pages are in ADJUDICATED EVENTS menu area. Again, just look for the magnifying glass icon.

I used a Mac only product (Rapidweaver) to develop the site. It is fully responsive and the Alpha UX components do flow nicely using this approach.

Just food for thought about what can be done with iframes and such......not perfect by any stretch, but not a bad presentation (except for the speed issues on loading)

I would still prefer a native Alpha solution!

the site looks very very good.
you should post this link in one of the thread - show your work or something similar to it.
                      very well done.

That 560k image file is not helping. See if something like these make a 1024 x 680.jpg2048 x 1360.jpgdifference. You may want to fix the Typo in the login NAMEID not NAfMEID experiment with more of the UX Image capabilities, that will help you. - Good effort mate, it's not easy.

Heres a tip as well on file size. The School banner is a larger file than the space it resides in. On the webpage its widest width is 1000px if you resize it and then compress it you can shrink the file size without losing much image quality (perceptually) from about 517kb to 33.5
                            https://www.nwcopro.com/Images/banner1_resized.jpg

You can grab it here for testing if you would like. The lettering is a bit fuzzed, but this was just to show the huge amount of savings and the method.
