Javascript Error on Ajax Callback after OnDialogIntialize

I'm having a problem with one of my UX components. The UX contains a List control plus some buttons. In the OnDialogInitialize server event I pre-select some entries in the list (using e.control) and also execute some javascript on return (using e.javascript) which enables/disables the buttons. One of the buttons has, as its click event, some action javascript to execute an Ajax callback. When I click the button (either in Working or Live Preview) a javascript error dialog pops up. In live preview the dialog contains the message "object doesn't support property or method replace".

So I constructed a stripped-down UX component containing a listbox filled with some static sample data and a single button. In OnDialogInitialize I execute the following code:

	dim msg as C = <<%js%
	{dialog.Object}.setDisabled('BUTTON_5',false);
	%js%	
	e.control.LIST1 = comma_to_crlf("John,Henry")

	e.javascript = msg

LIST1 is properly pre-selected and the button is enabled. But when I click the button (it just does an Ajax callback to a simple Xbasic function containing a debug(1) statement) I get the javascript error.

Has anyone else run into this? Is there a problem trying to set a control's value and/or emitting js in the OnDialogInitialize? Can I do one but not the other?

I'm using the latest build (12.3, 2999) of AA and hesitate to claim this is a bug but since it occurs in a very simple context I suppose that IS a possibility.

I get the same results. It looks likes there's an issue with using e.control to set values in a List control. I've put together a test case and I'll submit it. In the meantime, you can do this to achieve what you want.

dim setupDialog as c = <<%js%
{dialog.Object}.setValue('LIST1',['John','Henry']);
{dialog.Object}.setDisabled('BUTTON_5',true);
%js%

e.javascript = setupDialog

Use .setValue, passing an array of Values.

David, thanks for making the efforts you have and offering an alternative solution to my problem.

Funny thing is, after some testing, that was EXACTLY the solution I arrived at. From my experiments it seems that the mixture of using e.control and e.javascript is the issue (or MAY be, I'm not sure). So I resolved to use only js. Problem is, I couldn't find the syntax for using setValue to mark multiple records in a list, but eventually I figured out the bracket and quote syntax.

Seems to be working OK now, we'll see.
