Run report but just save as a PDF with a specific name ...

I have a report that the user clicks a button to view. I also need another button that will not view the report, but just download it as a PDF with a file name specified by the user. Is there a built in way to do this? Or any other way?

I do not use this, because I want the user to see the file before saving/downloading it (ensures it is the correct report, then they can just print to PDF through Chrome with no issues).

Thanks for your response. I have used report.saveas in the past and have been working with it over the past few weeks, and I am almost done with my script. I will share it when complete.

You're on the right track. I do this all the time in my apps. I first use context.request.GetRequestTempFileName(".pdf") to generate a temp file on the server. Then a5w_report_saveAs() to save an Alpha report using that temp file. Then finally a5helper_generatefiledownloadjs() to deliver the PDF to the user as a download.
