Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    problem connecting to MSSQL SERVER

    Hi everyone!

Each time i try to connect it display error messages, but if i switch back to local it shows no error message, this is the screen grab of the error Screenshot.jpg. Re: problem connecting to MSSQL SERVER

You're not really connecting to SQL Server "on the cloud". That's a local IP address... so you're connecting within your local network. Don't use the IP address of your machine. Use your Computer Name. It would then be MYPCNAME\SQLEXPRESS. And usually in upper case. This is how SQLExpress usually installs. If you are actually connecting to a server on the web, like ZebraHost, then your IP address is completely wrong. You'd need to get the correct address from the provider. If it is local, then you can open SQL Server Management Studio to find out what the specific Server Name is... it's the Server Name you want.

Re: problem connecting to MSSQL SERVER

Can you connect using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio? If so, when the dialog "Connect to Server" pops up... what is in Server Name? If you click the Server Name dropdown there is a selection for <Browse for more...>. When you select that another dialog pops up... Browse for Servers showing a tree control. Expand Database Engine. Your Server Name should be listed there. What is in this list?

sql express is not by default tcpip enabled. You have to enable tcpip.

Yes i can connect using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio with both windows Authentication and SQL server Authentication But connecting through the Alpha development environment is the issues.

              TUSENSVR\ALPHA5 and
              TUSENSVR\SQLEXPRESS

I use TUSENSVR\ALPHA5 to connect while connect using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.

              Thanks

                    Hi There,

Can you try a different user to connect which has server role of: Sysadmin and Public?
When I connect to a server I see as follows:

                    {A5API='SQLServer',A5DBVersion=2012,Server='999.58.999.68,2957',A5ANSINullPadWarn=Default,UserName='Joe',Password=':A5:B64:QXZpc25qMDg4NTQ=',Database='Avis'}

                    Which database are you connected?

                    Regards,

Re: problem connecting to MSSQL SERVER

normally the dropdown should give you the proper server location\server instance. looks like the local ip address may be typed in by you.
so instead go to server management studio and connect to the backend. when the dialog box comes up with
TUSENSVR\ALPHA5 ( if that connects properly)
copy that and paste it in the area where server name appears in alpha ( it should be local) and then try connecting. or using capitals type that, instead of ipaddress\ALPHA5
                      and see if that helps.
