Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

New Server looking at old data

We have just upgraded our servers. Migrated my MYSQL files to the new server successfully, and am now running MYSQL 5.7.

I have changed my connection string to point to the new server and it reports success.

I have then changed my web profile to point to the new server (Z drive mapped) A5webroot.

When I run a component in live or working preview it points to the correct (new) data on the new server, when I publish the same component to the new server and run it there it points to the old data on the old server!

Anybody know what I am missing?

    just a thought.
did you go to the profile and click on the ado connection strings and check if that is the new one?
    edit: named alphadao connection string.

Re: New Server looking at old data

      Hi Gandhi,

I have edited an existing AlphaDAO connection string to point to the new mySQL instance on the new server and when testing it reports success.

If I try creating a new AlphaDAO connection string and use that in the component I get this error 2015-11-13 (2).png when trying to publish.
The connection string works because I have used the create SQL table genie successfully. I am at a loss!

Re: New Server looking at old data

I still think that the connection string is the problem, ( i.e: in the web server not in the development machine)
        I would do the following.
in your development, where the connection string works open the connection string dialog box copy the connection string.
then go to profile and open the alpha dao connection string
there select the old connection string and replace it with the new one and publish see if that works.

I had this problem too. From what I can remember, there seems to be multiple places to update the ADO string. Development and Production.

            Hi Gandhi,

            Tried that no joy.

            Hi Lee,

I have got the Development side all working, it's the server (production) side that's the problem which means nobody can do any work! And the problem escalates because I am on a course Monday and Tuesday next week. If you could remember where on the server I need to change settings you would be a life saver. Friday the 13th stikes again!

Check to see if you have any absolute URL links in your tabbedui properties pointing to your old server. If you do, try changing them to just a relative url.

Your private email to me indicates that you are running a pre-release build, but you are not running the latest pre-release build.

The pre-release notes specifically request that issues be reported directly to Alpha and not posted on the message board because. The pre-release notes explain why we make this request.

Please install the latest pre-release build and if there is still an issue, then please file a bug report with a test case with Alpha.
