Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Buttons shrunk

I've got a dialog component (now called UX component in Alpha 12). The form had a submit and reset button that worked fine in version 11. I just updated to 12 this morning. Now my buttons on this dialog page have shrunk to little tiny things, and I can't get them to go back to normal size. Even if I delete these buttons and add new ones, they still show up as shrunk and un-usable. The working preview shows them as normal, but the published version is shrunk. Any ideas? I've played with every setting I can think of and can't make these buttons go back to normal.

usually there is some javascript error. if you have any javascript in the ux, take a close look. see if you can spot something.

I can create a brand new A5W page, and a brand new UX component with buttons, and it still shows up with the shrunken buttons. Do you think that is still a javascript error?

            Re: Buttons shrunk

When you say the images look alright, are you saying they are full size buttons with text? Or are they shrunk? Sorry for all of the questions. And what kind of javascript error would you expect to see on a completely brand new a5w page and UX component with zero configuration, other than just adding those buttons?

this is the image I see, there are 6 buttons and one non displayed square. these buttons are with image and text,
if you do not have any javascript then, is the javascript enabled, or, loaded in alpha five. these buttons depend on javascript to display and function.
since I don't have a version 12 I cannot create an ux and show you.

Ok, I was making some changes, I got the buttons to appear, and now they are gone again. Seems like something buggy. Check out this URL now:

Anybody with version 12 have this same issue? Like I said, this was a fully functioning page before I went to version 12, and now it is broken.

Carl, could you zip and post your test a5w page and component? Your page is throwing this error...

Uncaught ReferenceError: livePreviewInBuilder is not defined test123.a5w:140
Are you running the same development and server build versions?

I've not see this error before.

                          Re: Buttons shrunk

So I found a temporary fix. When you install version 12 on the client PC, it does not write over 11, and 11 still functions. So I was able to open up the version 11 application and republish the one page to fix the buttons. But I would love to here from anybody out there as to why publishing under version 12 breaks these submit/reset buttons on my UX component.

Again... publishing to a version 11 server or a version 12 server?

So I asked the AlphaFive sales guy what I needed to cover both the developer license and the application server, and he told me I just needed the developer license. I thought that would push version 12 to the server. Not the case, eh? Great...
