Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    GeoLocation in BACKGROUND

    hello all

I have this script in GitHub I want to install it at alpha server and use it within my application

can someone please tell me how to make it work along with my application
the point of my application is to make attending software for employees
by setup the company location in MySQL table
and once the employee get close to that location it will get him IN or OUT as attending
I have researched and found this :
    https://github.com/transistorsoft/co...geolocation-lt

can someone please tell me how to start with this

    Please help me

    Regards

    Ahmed Sh

    Hi Ahmed,

Unless someone's implemented this plugin and posts their code, this type of request is far too large and complex to expect a working answer.

There are a couple of things you need to be aware of. Plugins of this nature have nothing to do with the Alpha Server... you can't install... because there is nothing to install... on the Alpha server.

This is a phonegap plugin... to be used in a phonegap app.

I believe the plugin you're pointing to is a phonegap plugin, but not a phonegap build plugin. There is a phonegap build plugin available so you'll need to get the info to install it from phonegap build.

To utilize plugins you can start with the documentation Bob Moore wrote, and which is available, in the PhoneGap dialog, from the Web Control Panel. There's a link to the docs which help explain plugins.

I just got email from Moore
      He wrote :

      Ahmed,

I’ll add support for the background-geolocation plugin to the PhoneGap builder today.
That will be in tomorrow’s pre-release build.

      Thanks,

      Bob Moore

I can't personally help you but man this is a pretty cool plugin. I love the fact that bob Moore so quickly jumped up to the task to get it in TOMORROWS pre-release. That's the kind of thing that sets Alpha apart from ALL of their competitors, just like the platform - its rapid application development!

Wow that's amazing. The grid allows polygon filtering, but the ux only uses a radius, based on a lat/lng as a target using the geography (location) value of the query record that are within that radius, to use it you get the answer is great but would you would need to do a lot of traffic to keep checking if the device hit the radius at anytime and commit the record, so this looks like a good option.

              this is so confusing ,
i am pulling my hair out to implement this cardova plugin ,
              there is something tricky ,
              you know what ?
i think its like you build a native page where this native page will work in android and ios
through this native page u will use post / get methods from and rest api .
i know this is sooo tricky
but i am also sure very soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon
i will be able to get this working
i understand moore have added this plugin with the pre release
but i dont think it will still work
adding plugin within alpha is like editing config.xml and call the plugin from its source
and its functions will be available
the problem is when you install the plugin with npm or what so ever
              it has loads of errors

              this post honestly ?
needs a genius to resolve it and i hope we will find it .

until then i will keep working to get this done .

              thanks all

What is it you want the app to do exactly?

                  Re: GeoLocation in BACKGROUND

Although the plugin itself may be battery efficient I can easily see how an app like this would drain the life out of a battery, not unlike the incessant attempts to connect and discover wifi networks...I would be more concerned about making the person "check in" and then use a call to get the geolocation when they do.
Good luck anyways, I wish you well.
