Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Dynamic Panel in TabBand Panel Navigator

Is anyone else experiencing issues with opening a component in a dynamic panel with the property to allow the panel to be closed not working (i.e. no button is being put on the tab at the top in the panel navigator to allow the panel to be closed). I have attached an image of what I am seeing (using the iOS7 style so there should be a red circle with a white "x" in it to the upper right of the panel name), I've switched the style multiple times to make sure that wasn't the issue. Also, with a tabbed UI I believe the tabs at the top will become horizontally scrollable if they take up more space than is available, is there not a way to accomplish this without using the tabbed UI but rather using the panel navigator?

    Hi,
in the ux that will open you should remove the pre-render component at design time. I am not sure if you have to tick the "show wait message on ajax call back"
I did ran in a similar issue and got it resolved that way.

Re: Dynamic Panel in TabBand Panel Navigator

When I go to the component (called "Clients") that is getting opened within my "Dashboard" component (which is the main component for my application) and uncheck that property and save the component, the property automatically gets re-selected (i.e. it won't let me unselect that property) be fore it saves. Below is a breakdown of how the components are setup:

I have UX component called "Dashboard" which has a panel navigator and a button with action javascript to open another UX component called "Clients" with a list and detail view inside it. I went to the "Clients" component and tried to uncheck the property and that is where it keeps reselecting it before it saves.

Currently the only work around I have come up with is putting a button in my "Dashboard" component that will close what ever dynamic panel the user is on when they click the button (by using the <panelObject>.removePanel(panel_name); method). This does work but what I don't like about this approach is if I get enough panels opened that they span the whole length of the screen in the tabbed band, the tabbed ban doesn't become scrollable (but I think it use to function this way so whatever is causing this issue may be causing other HTML issues). Now if using the tabbed band panel navigator isn't going to give me a horizontally scrollable tab band then I won't worry about fixing this issue as the close tab button will likely be the better option (and the cleaner option rather than having those giant red circles with an "x" in the center which is the iOS7 button style for closing panels in a tab band).

        Hi,
In the option there is way to always use "pre-render component at design time" that's why it get ticked again.
I use the alpha css and find the "X" button to close very practical.

I was able to duplicate what you're seeing at first, but not now.

With pre-rendering turned off at the very first save of a UX, my dynamic panel had the red X. Then I turned on pre-render in the main UX. The red X no longer showed.

I turned off pre-render, but the X still did not show.

Then, with Controls displayed, I chose Menu, Recalculate all controls. The red X shows again... and I cannot get it to disappear... no matter what I do with pre-render... which is good.

            Hi,
I think the pre-render should be off in the child (the ux that is going to open in the dynamic panel) and not the main.
I still had this till yesterday, not sure in the newer version did not try it.. Before I tried the recalculate control and it did not work..

            Regards,

Agreed... I'm seeing the same. In 4254 and 4261... pre-render must be off in the dynamic UX. Doesn't matter in the main.
