Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Losing full screen on an orientation change

    I am looking for a way to keep screen contents to 100% in a mobile app when switching from vertical to horizontal orientation

    I have a very simple mobile app for an iPhone.
    I am not using phone gap.
    My few users must be connected to the internet to use the app.
    As long as I keep my phone vertical, all works as expected.
    Once I turn my phone horizontal, screen is cropped and then when I go back to vertical, screen is still cropped.
    The only way to get it back to full screen is log out, then log back in
    What setting am I missing or is this how it should be appearing???

    Thanks

      Hi David
      Thanks for replying
      I have been testing using Google, that is where I see this issue.
      I just now tried using Safari, it works as it should
      Can you try it using Google?
      Thanks
      Tony

        I've tried it with update to date versions of Chrome and Chrome Beta... both ok.

          OK, I must have broke something with the current UX
          Thanks

            Re: Losing full screen on an orientation change

            I have run into this exact same behavior. Tested on iphone 7 and 7+ in a chrome browser and safari browser. Android works fine.
            I would like to know if a cause was ever pin-pointed.
            We used a location.reload in the "onSize" event for the panel(...after testing if it were an iphone) as a band-aid for now.

            also...
            works as expected in remote test/ live preview. Is only (negatively)affected by orientation changes when viewed from application server.

              No.
              My UX was very simple, so I re-created it and haven't had the problem since.
              Sorry

                Re: Losing full screen on an orientation change

                I am running into this same problem with a PhoneGap app. It happens in working preview, live preview or on an iPhone with iOS 11.2.1.

                If I launch the app in portrait, it works fine until I change to landscape. If I launch in landscape, it works unless I change from portrait and then back to landscape.

                It's behaving like a panel layout, but I am not using any panel layouts.

                Anybody ever figure out the cause?

                    Re: Losing full screen on an orientation change

                    I can't reproduce but I'm curious about trying something.
                    In the onOrientationChange Client-side event, can you place the following one line:

                    AUI.u.getVPSize('A5Container');

                    My thinking is that just simply asking for the viewport size will force a redraw.

                      Re: Losing full screen on an orientation change

                      Thanks for the suggestion but it doesn't do anything. That's what I need to do I need to force a redraw. When I turn it landscape it stays at the portrait width. When I turn it back to portrait it stays at the landscape height.

                        Re: Losing full screen on an orientation change

                        I wonder if it is even picking up on the orientation change. How about testing that with a little alert in onOrientationChange if you haven't thought about it already.

                          Re: Losing full screen on an orientation change

                          Try this in Client-side events... onOrientationChange... and if needed... in onInitializeComplete.

                          In Javascript functions... create a function named resizePanel... and call resizePanel(); from the 2 events.

                          Code:
                          function resizePanel(){
                          	setTimeout(function(){
                          		var pObj = {dialog.Object}.getPanelObject();
                          		pObj.resize();
                          	},25);
                          }
                          Play with the 25ms value if you're not seeing results. Increase it by 25ms per test.

                            this works for me in the onOrientationChange

                            if({dialog.object}) {var obj = {dialog.object}.getPanelObject();
                            obj.resize();};
                            Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
