Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Build 4346-4889 and PhoneGap Rebuild

    Hi Everyone,

With release Alpha Anywhere V4.4.4 - Build 4346-4889 18-May-2017 there is an important message about PhoneGap applications:

"If you have PhoneGap applications that use Lists with updateable Detail Views, and if you want to update the server that handles the Ajax callbacks from your PhoneGap applications, you will need to rebuild your PhoneGap applications."

So does this mean you need recompile the PhoneGap UX and republish it to the Alpha server? Or, do you need to recompile it in PhoneGap and then send it to the app stores again?

    Thanks!

    Scott

Re: Build 4346-4889 and PhoneGap Rebuild

    Both, I believe.

If you're going to update your Server to 4346, then you'll need to be working with that Development build as well.
You'll need to publish your UX to the Server.
You'll need to rebuild your PhoneGap Build App and submit it to the App Stores.

It's all connected. If you update one piece... the Alpha server build... then you'll need to update all aspects of what you're doing.

I would think this is true for all builds. But 4346 is particularly affected because there was an update to Visual Studio 2015.

Your quoted info is only half the message, however...

IMPORTANT: If you have UX components with Lists that have updateable Detail Views and these UX components were defined as pre-rendered then you will need to edit these components and resave them so that the pre-rendered code can be re-generated. You can use the Edit, Bulk Operations, Recalculate UX Components menu item to do a bulk update of your UX components.
If you have PhoneGap applications that use Lists with updateable Detail Views, and if you want to update the server that handles the Ajax callbacks from your PhoneGap applications, you will need to rebuild your PhoneGap applications.
Looking at how the information is formatted, the 2nd paragraph is related to the first.

If you have List with Updateable Views AND the UX is defined as pre-rendered then you must regenerate the code and re-publish... AND if you have PGB apps built with this UX you must rebuild and resubmit the app.

    So... the question may be...

If you have List with Updateable Views AND the UX is NOT defined as pre-rendered then do you need to regenerate the code and re-publish... AND if you have PGB apps built with this UX do you need to rebuild and resubmit the app?

      Hey David,

Thanks for the clarification on the question. I agree it is not 100 percent clear in the notes if the requirement to rebuild the PGB apps still applies if it has a detailed updateable view and but is not pre-rendered.

I certainly hope not for my sake. I have thousands of app users, I don't see how I would coordinate all of this. Apple can take their sweet time approving an app so how can you upgrade the servers and then ask everyone to upgrade their app when you don't even know when apple will allow it on the app store???

      Cheers,

      Scott
