Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Facebook Login on Mobile App - Disabled?

    Hello folks,

NOTE: I had posted this as a reply to an old thread and decided to make it a new thread since I got no replies.

I am using the Alpha Server (latest version of the normal Alpha Server) and am using PhoneGap to publish a mobile app for IOS. I am trying to get Facebook login to work. It DOES WORK on the web version of the application, no problem. IT DOES NOT WORK on the mobile version of the application. So, I know I have everything set up right in terms of security and the Facebook login setup, or it wouldn't be working on the web app side of things.

On the mobile side pushing the button does absolutely nothing, and I know for sure security is fully functional and working on the mobile app. I have oauth checked in the PhoneGap plugins (tried without as well - no difference). Also, pushing the button to "Add Facebook to existing user" has the same behavior - nothing. It's almost like any attempt to go outside my application is silently failing....is there some setting I'm missing? Ideas?

The button doesn't even indicate that I've pushed it.

As a follow up to this:

If I add another action to the button (such as sending an email) the second action does fire and the button is clickable like normal.

Since, installing the latest update have you recalculated all of the UX components and rebuilt your app? I would also completely uninstall the application and then reinstall it rather than update just as a precaution in cached code or images in local storage.

Hi Charles, how are you? Thanks for the input. I have recalculated things and reloaded the whole app to the server. I am going to try and delete the app and do a fresh install but I'm not holding out much hope. If it wasn't working on the web side then I'd know it was something on my end. I think it's being stopped by the device itself and I don't know why. If I use the web app on the mobile device, rather than the actual app, the function works fine.....so it must be in the packaging of the mobile app itself. I hope that makes sense.

I just redesigned the layout of my app for a very similar reason. I made my app with the use of the persistent login and put the application (component) as an embedded object. The embedded object is a ux with the rest of the embedded objects in panel cards. What I have found now is I can update those on my server and for the most part, images aside, there is no need to update the app. The embedded objects update just like the web view. I am sure anything that would require pgb plugin or the like wouldn't work as expected but styling and tweaks are no issue as opposed to building the ux with the controls into the pg build.
I think it will work for you unless there's an issue with pg, I do see they are using a new build or something now.

Taken me a while to get back to this, sorry. Thanks for the suggestions Charles, but no amount of reconfiguring the app has made any difference. The app simply ignores any request to go to Facebook from the actual app on a mobile device. If I call up the web page of the app....no problem. Surely someone has had this same issue.
