Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    How to disable action button after a certain xbasic code

    Hello! I have a grid with an action button named SAVE which i want to disable after a certain Xbasic code is complete, I've tried some ways i found but none seems to work.
    In the action button I have ajax callback and inline javascript that runs serially with the code like:
    Code:
    {grid.Object}.submitGridPart();
    {grid.Object}.refresh();
    At first i tried using the enable expression on the action button properties and sets it into SESSION.FLAG = 0
    Then at the xbasic called by ajax callback, I set SESSION.FLAG = 1 when the code is complete but it didn't work. So i tried adding into inline javascript after the refresh:
    Code:
    var btn = {dialog.object}.getControl('SAVE');
    btn.setDisabled(true);
    With no luck thinking I can'r put var there, I moved the code into a javascript action on the text mode and adding run action on the action button called after the inline javascript, but it didn't work either.
    Is there any way to do this? Thank you.

    function setbuttondisabled as c (e as p)
    dim js as c = <<%str%
    document.getElementById("{grid.componentName}.ACTIONBUTTON.CALLXBASIC.G0").disabled = true;
    %str%

    setbuttondisabled = js
    end function
    Check picture to see how to reference specific button ID. Hope that helps.

      since my function aslo returns a message box if it's succeeded, so I add the command onto it like so
      Code:
      message = "A5.msgBox.show('Sukses!','<div style=\'padding: 10px;\'><font size=5 color=green><strong>Berhasil<strong></font></div>','none',function(){});document.getElementById('TBI_P_SCHEDULE_10617NNZE_P_PRDDLVFI_MPID_DLVPRESH_RIOP_LCS_PRDDLVMUT_DLVPRESD_KYLX_P1.ACTIONBUTTON.SAVE.G0').disabled = true;"
      saveNG = message
      'saveNG is the name of the function
      but I got an error saying "unable to set property 'disabled' of undefined or null reference" to me it seems that the component doesn't recognize the ID I paste, but I don't think i copied the wrong ID for the button

      here's the html for the button that I got
      Code:
      <button type="button" id="TBI_P_SCHEDULE_10617NNZE_P_PRDDLVFI_MPID_DLVPRESH_RIOP_LCS_PRDDLVMUT_DLVPRESD_KYLX_P1.ACTIONBUTTON.SAVE.G0" class="GrPurpleButton" title="" a5controlbound="true">Save</button>

        1. try to remove your a5.msgbox() and see if it works or no
        2. don't "hardcode" the button ID, just use {grid.componentName}, it will automatically resolved on browser
        3. put the setDisabled js and message box to different variables, for example :
        dim js1 as c = "document.getElementById("{grid.componentName}.ACTIONBUTTON.CALLXBASIC.G0").disabled = true; "
        dim js2 as c = "A5.msgBox.show('Sukses!','<div style=\'padding: 10px;\'><font size=5 color=green><strong>Berhasil<strong></font></div>','none',function(){});"

        saveNG = js1+js2

          Re: How to disable action button after a certain xbasic code

          I tried removing the a5.msgbox(), using {grid.componentName} and all the combination with or without one and/or both of them but none seems to work.
          But when I use {grid.componentName} on inline javascript, it works. The problem is if I use it in inline javascript, whatever happened if the xbasic succeeded or not, the button'll get disabled where I only want it to happened if the xbasic complete itself without any error.

            The sample codes on post 2 is in XBasic and works fine.
            1. Try use A5.executeThisThenThat() to split your 'a5.msgBox()' and 'ele.disabled = true'
            2. You can add some validation to tell if the button need to disabled or enabled, for example :
            if checkCondition = .t. then
            js = <<%js%
            function showMsg() {
            a5.msgBox(xxxxx);
            }

            function disableButton() {
            document.getElementById("{grid.componentName}.ACTIONBUTTON.CALLXBASIC.G0").disabled = true;
            }

            A5.executeThisThenThat(showMsg,disableButton);
            %js%
            else
            js = "" 'nothing to do
            end if

            setButtonDisabled = js 'return javascript value
