'Ink' is a first-class data type in Alpha Anywhere. What does this mean? It means you can insert controls in Reports, Grids, and UX Components and specify the underlying data is an 'ink' data type - similar to choosing 'character' or 'numeric'. Because 'ink' is a data type, Alpha knows it should handle the data as an image rather than a character string.
The ink data itself is a vector format stored as a character string. To store this information in a database, the ink field in the tables needs to be a character type. For DBF tables, 'ink' has been added as a choice for the field type - you should favor the 'ink' type rather than a 'character' type when working with DBF tables to store ink data.
In this video, we show you how to work with the new 'Ink' data type in reports and grids.
