Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

This might help you to remember next time.
When you create a Password Sign in, use the Custom one, then out a "Hint" on the instructions.
My hint for Administrator is combined with the instructions for the users in the Password Panel.

    I forget !! :-)

I have documented it here. Problem is we left home country and I left all my documents there where I had written it down.
Over 6,000 miles to go back so this happened.
    Thanks for the chuckles !!

Thanks everyone again for responding !!

You don't mention whether or not you're bypassing the default first screen.
Either way, I would copy the entire folder to a different computer, and experiment
with the copy of the project. This would mean you can safely do things without
affecting the real data (If it's using a sql backend be sure to alter the connection string).

Is there a person you trusted for day to day maintenance of the project that you might
have give the "master password(s)" to? If there is, that would be the obvious person to
    work with.

    Forgot user passwords in application

    Hi All,
I went back to work on a desktop program I was working on that I used user passwords and now I cannot get into the program to work on it again. (I have a reason why I think below) Is there a way to get to Alphas user control and turn off or am I screwed until I find the master user password. Frustrated for sure and can't believe my usual passwords do not work, so not sure if it is me or something happened in program. Any help is appreciated, so I can keep myself occupied. Thanks in advance for any thoughts or assistance!

I have been out of circulation and was very sick for 6 months thanks to Covid in April (work exposure no PPE available) (and underlying medical issues) and now again I was exposed by Mother-in-law who did not say they were feeling sick and just tested positive after I said you are sick, so I am feeling a bit ill after 5 days from weekend exposure and hope nothing more than this. After that initial Covid ordeal I had to retire from my fulltime job 6 months later, so I am here having forgotten so much due to memory issues after my illness. I don't want to stare at the wall so I am trying to get back on track as life was before or close to some normal existence.

    Thank you,
