Another function that went away or maybe moved to a not-so-obvious place is the ability to search scripts. Of course I am not talking about the forum but rather A5 itself. Any of the searchers for functions of old here notice that as well? Or, perhaps know how to search scripts for a phrase these days?

The Alpha Software Forum Participation Guidelines
The Alpha Software Forum is a free forum created for Alpha Software Developer Community to ask for help, exchange ideas, and share solutions. Alpha Software strives to create an environment where all members of the community can feel safe to participate. In order to ensure the Alpha Software Forum is a place where all feel welcome, forum participants are expected to behave as follows:
Be sure all comments and threads you post are respectful. Posts that contain any of the following content will be considered a violation of your agreement as a member of the Alpha Software Forum Community and will be moderated:
If a thread or post is found to contain any of the content outlined above, a moderator may choose to take one of the following actions:
Moderators may also rename posts and threads if they are too generic or do not property reflect the content.
Moderators may move threads if they have been posted in the incorrect forum.
Threads/Posts questioning specific moderator decisions or actions (such as "why was a user banned?") are not allowed and will be removed.
The owners of Alpha Software Corporation (Forum Owner) reserve the right to remove, edit, move, or close any thread for any reason; or ban any forum member without notice, reason, or explanation.
Community members are encouraged to click the "Report Post" icon in the lower left of a given post if they feel the post is in violation of the rules. This will alert the Moderators to take a look.
Alpha Software Corporation may amend the guidelines from time to time and may also vary the procedures it sets out where appropriate in a particular case. Your agreement to comply with the guidelines will be deemed agreement to any changes to it.
Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting
Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.
When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.
The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.
When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.
A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.
If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.
When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.
Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

- Spam.
- Vulgar language.
- Quotes from private conversations without permission, including pricing and other sales related discussions.
- Personal attacks, insults, or subtle put-downs.
- Harassment, bullying, threatening, mocking, shaming, or deriding anyone.
- Sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, or otherwise discriminatory jokes and language.
- Sexually explicit or violent material, links, or language.
- Pirated, hacked, or copyright-infringing material.
- Encouraging of others to engage in the above behaviors.
If a thread or post is found to contain any of the content outlined above, a moderator may choose to take one of the following actions:
- Remove the Post or Thread - the content is removed from the forum.
- Place the User in Moderation - all posts and new threads must be approved by a moderator before they are posted.
- Temporarily Ban the User - user is banned from forum for a period of time.
- Permanently Ban the User - user is permanently banned from the forum.

I wrote my own a while back and it is a call on my control panel toolbar. I use it ALL THE TIME!!! Here it is if anyone would like it. To access scripts with passwords, you have to put your password into the top line. The result of the search returns a dialog with the name of all the scripts found with the search term from which you can open the scripts for inspection and design. I couldn't develop without this. It searches through 1650 scripts in about a minute running remote from home.
Code:dim global vproceed as C ="yes" 'set script password dim vPW as C="YOURPASSWORDHERE" dim vclip_YN as C="Y" 'get text to find dim vfind_text as C="" dim vnort as C=" Full Text Search" 'DIALOG STRUCTURE dim dlg_title as C dlg_title = "Script Text Search" dim dlg_body as C dim dlg_code as C dim vR as C 'dialog field variables 'build dialog dlg_body = <<%dlg% {startup=init}{background=hsi gray}{xmargin=3,3}{ymargin=1,1} {region1}{justify=right}<%T=Search;B=T;I=$$edit.search%4,1!continue>{sp=3}<%T=Close;B=T;I=$$generic.exit%4,1!exit> {endregion1}; {justify=left}{font=arial,8,bi}{frame=1,3: Search } {region2}{lf}; {sp=15}{font=Arial,9,b}(vnort: Name Only Search){sp=7}(vnort: Full Text Search);{lf}; {font=arial,9,bi}{sp=3}Find Text:{sp=2}{font=arial,10,b}[.55vfind_text] <%O={J=C}{I:'$$mini.control.calendar'}{F=arial,10} Date ;OF={J=C}{C=white}{B=black}{I:'$$mini.control.calendar'}{F=Arial,10,bi} Date %18!calendar> ; {endregion};{lf}; ;{justify=right}{font=arial,4}<.1!dlg_script> %dlg% dlg_code=<<%code% 'INIT IF a_dlg_button="init" sys_send_keys("{HOME}") a_dlg_button="" END IF 'CALENDAR IF a_dlg_button="calendar" vfind_text="'Last Updated: "+format_data(date(),"9-") a_dlg_button="" END IF 'EXIT if a_dlg_button="exit" vproceed="no" ui_modeless_dlg_close(dlg_title) end if %code% vR=ui_dlg_box(dlg_title,dlg_body,dlg_code) if vproceed="no" end end if if vfind_text="" end end if if vnort=" Name Only Search" vnort="name" else vnort="all" end if ' get list of scripts and UDFs dim vudf_enum as C="" vudf_enum=a5.UDF_enum(2) dim vscr_enum as C vscr_enum=a5.Script_Enum(2) 'add the counts of scripts and UDFs dim vcycle as N=1 tcount = line_count(vudf_enum)+line_count(vscr_enum) ' lba("36 - Script Count","There are: "+(""+tcount)+" Scripts") ' if vproceed="no";end;end if 'start wait dialog DIM GLOBAL pDlg1 as {waitdialog} pDlg1.Set_Title("Please Wait") pDlg1.Create(1,"Percent") pDlg1.Set_Message("") pDlg1.Set_Bottom_Message("") pDlg1.Set_Percent(Var->vcycle,Var->tcount) ' loop through UDFs dim cycle as n=1 dim vPW as C dim vudfw as C dim vscrw as C dim with_text as C="" dim with_text_show as C="" for each foo in vudf_enum foo=alltrim(foo) if vnort="name" if vfind_text $ foo with_text=with_text+"U..."+foo+crlf() end if else vudfw=UDF_load(foo,vPW) if vfind_text $ vudfw with_text=with_text+"U..."+foo+crlf() end if end if vcycle=vcycle+1 pDlg1.Set_Percent(Var->vcycle,Var->tcount) pDlg1.Set_Bottom_Message(foo) next 'loop through SCRIPTS for each foo in vscr_enum foo=alltrim(foo) if vnort="name" if vfind_text $ foo with_text=with_text+"S..."+foo+crlf() end if else vudfw=UDF_load(foo,vPW) if vfind_text $ vudfw with_text=with_text+"S..."+foo+crlf() end if end if vcycle=vcycle+1 pDlg1.Set_Percent(Var->vcycle,Var->tcount) pDlg1.Set_Bottom_Message(foo) next pdlg1.close() if vclip_YN="Y" clipboard.Set_Data(sortsubstr(with_text,crlf())) end if ' for each foo in with_text ' with_text_show=with_text_show+word(foo,1,"^^")+crlf() ' next ' with_text_show=sortsubstr(with_text_show,crlf()) 'show in modeless dialog as checkbox list dim d1 as C dim d2 as C dim dlg_body as C dim dlg_code as C d1=<<%dg1% {position=11,.3}{lf}; {region} {text=30,1vfind_text}; {endregion}; [.40,%dg1% d2=<<%dg2% vUK^#with_text!evuk_*] {lf}; <Open> <Close> %dg2% dlg_code=<<%code% if a_dlg_button="close" ui_modeless_dlg_close("FOUND") end if if left(a_dlg_button,5)="evuk_" if line_count(vUK)>1 ui_modeless_dlg_box("oops",<<%dlg% {nocaption}{background=yellow}{font=arial,12,b}{position=10,.4} {lf}; OOPS, One at a time!; {lf}; %dlg%) sleep(1.4) ui_modeless_dlg_close("oops") vUK="" end if 'end if a_dlg_button="" end if if a_dlg_button="Open" a_dlg_button="" dim vtype as C 'dim look as C 'look="..."+alltrim(vUK) vtype=word(vUK,1,"...") Gene, thank you so much for this post. I've been using Alpha since version 4.5 and I never knew this feature existed. What a time saver and valuable tool. This should be an icon in the toolbar.Alpha 5 Version 11
