I have a SQL lookup table containing two fields - Address_Type and Address_Desc; a sample value being 'NH' and 'Nursing Home', respectively.
I have two fields on a web form:-
1. Address_Type is a data entry field with a lookup button, so the value can be selected and returned from a Lookup window,
or if the user knows the code, can be typed directly into the field. I have "Restrict values allowed" set on.
2. Address_Desc is a label field containing the returned value from the Lookup window selection.
Both of the fields are written to the record currently being built.
If the user types in the Address_Type in lowercase, 'nh', say, as in the sample above,
the lookup process only seems to check that the key exists in the table.
The two fields aren't retrieved from the lookup table and placed in the form fields.
So the final result is a lowercase key entry with no description displayed on the form.
Does anyone know of a way of linking the manually-typed entry into the Lookup-window processing without displaying the window,
but still getting back the same details as in the Lookup-window process?
Also, can anyone point me in the direction of any documentation on the javascript helper functions and grid place holders, etc?
I can find plenty of documentation on desk top Xbasic, but can't find anything on the client side processing with examples of callbacks,
other than the skimpy details within the product's javascript entry screens, which don't mean a lot if you can't reference the manual.
Thanks in advance,
Trev Jones
