Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    WEB Purchase Order System

Does anyone have an interest in a Web Based Purchase Order System?
I would be willing to share mine in return for advise or coding examples that would improve mine.
The only thing that I ask in return is that if you have an improvement, that you would send me either instructions on how you recoded the sheet or send me the component and a5w page for me to learn from.
If interested please send me your name and email and I will send you a link to download the application. You would still have to publish it to your server to look at it.(Either personal Message or Email)

    Thanks

    Re: WEB Purchase Order System

I would be interested. In fact, I am on the verge of developing a small web portal for my company where purchase, sales and production are integrated. But my requirement being complex due to nature of business, it might not be suitable for a general purpose use. And I don't intend to develop it that way. However, I could use your PO system and if needed, improve and revert back. Some things like item master etc could be interesting. By the way, having spent 3 years trying to implement Microsoft Axapta ERP and having failed to come to an acceptable level, we are shifting to developing our own system minus the finance and would be picking a lot of things from an ERP platform. A little early, but am hopeful of a good solution, knowing the power of Alpha.

      Hi

I would be interested in fact most of my customers are in the order management and item inventory
So if I can make use of your system would be great as most of the time my customer will ask for something special so if i use your system and add something custom I will send it to you as well

          Re: WEB Purchase Order System

Sounds like what I am trying to accomplish as a conversion from my old desktop based system. I would love to be able to share any insight or help with your effort. (Note: I am NOT an A5 guru!)

My desktop app was (is) used to generate PO's to multiple vendors for equipment and other items that we order each time we open a new franchise location. The actual items may change slightly and the vendor that an item is bought from may change, depending on current pricing/delivery from a vendor.

Other than that, and changing the billing/ship-to address and credit card info, each round of order generation is pretty much the same. Looking to do it "semi automatically" based on the current data table entries.

          Thanks for considering this.

          Jim
