I'm new to Alpha 5. Well, not exactly, several years ago I started using A4. I have some background using MS Access. But Alpha 5 might be a better solution for what I'd like to develop. I need a quick quote for salesman at their desktop. Some salesman are located at the main location while others are in another city.
We often quote prices on custom sized air-conditioning filters. It is a time consuming manual process that I would like to automate perhaps through A5 as a backend and the A5 web app as the front end. Ultimately I'd like to have a front end on the counter-salesman's desktop so they can key in the size and receive a price based on backend criteria. I envision the salesman keying each dimension and the application determines if it is a standard filter or a non-standard filter. The standard sizes are found in a list and the non standard custom sizes are based on calculating the sq inches and locating that size in a range. I have started a basic process below. I'm open to any commentary or suggestions on what the best way could be to get this project completed.
Quick Quote Filter Pricing Module
1. Select between
a. HD INDUSTRIAL GRADE (1 10255.01 or 2 10255.02)
b. PRE PLEAT 40 (1 80055.01 or 2 80055.02 or 4 80055.04 )
c. PRE PLEAT Economy (1 84355.01 or 2 84355.02 or 4 84355.04)
Enter customer requested dimensions (these could be standard or non-standard custom sizes)
STANDARD SIZE
First example: 16 X 20 X 1 (Known as nominal size) Johnstone Stock # L99-436 Flanders part number (10255.011620)
(This is a standard size filter and the actual dimensions are 15-3/4x19-1/2x3/4) These dimensions are 1/8 less than the Nominal dimensions)
NON-STANDARD SIZES
10-1/2 x 10-1/2 x 1 (would be a non standard filter OR not found in the STANDARD LIST)
Single Filters
Minimum Size: 4" x 4" Maximum Size: 27" x 36"
Depth Face Area Model Number List Price
1 000-199 10255.01199 $4.13
200-249 10255.01249 $4.04
250-299 10255.01299 $4.24
300-399 10255.01399 $4.35
400-499 10255.01499 $4.54
500-599 10255.01599 $4.72
600-699 10255.01699 $4.78
700-799 10255.01799 $4.90
800-972 10255.01972 $5.28
To determine the cost you would multiply the dimensions.
10-1/2 * 10-1/2 = 110.25 square inches. Looking at the above table find the 110.25 square inches are found in the range 000-199 (10255.01199 000-199 FLT PNL HD GLS 1") and it would be priced as follows
List of 4.13 * .40 multiplier = 1.6520) * 1.01 (Corp multiplier) 1.669 and is a 12P STANDARD PACK.
What I would like is an ASP.NET app that would have a blank field for each dimension.
1. After keying the dimensions determine if the filter size is standard or non-standard.
2. If standard return the standard size with the JS Part number.
3. If non standard return the Vendors item number ie 10255.01199 and calculate the cost based on information from the Vendors data file.
