Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Is it possible to highlight the tab with focus of a tabbedUI component?

I have a request from a client to turn the color of the tab with focus of a tabbedUI component to a different color so their user can see which one their on at-a-glance.

I've got to believe this is possible but I just can't seem to figure out exactly how to do this. Is it possible? If yes, do have you have any pointers you can share with me to make it happen?

    Many thanks,
    Scott

I've got to believe so. Check some of Bob Moore's first videos about web development...

If you want to use CSS, do this:

Ensure the background-image or background-color (if there is no backgrouond-image is set) is different between AltDataTD and DataTD. The tab in focus uses DataTD, the ones not in focus use AltDataTD. A good stylesheet that has subtle difference is TeaCup.

<Found my problem - needed to uncheck the Use Master Style property on the load of the tabbedUI component>
        Ignore the data below :-)

This approach is good and it ~almost~ works. But here is what I run into:
        1) I created a new CSS called tuiGlassBlue and made changes to the DataTD
        2) I edited the TUI to change the style to tuiGlassBlue AND added GlassBlue to the "Additional Grid Styles" property of the TUI because I don't want my grids to be affected by the edit I made.

For some reason, the grids that open in the TUI are using tuiGlassBlue instead of GlassBlue stylesheet
Am I taking the wrong approach? Should I be redefining the DataTD locally in the TUI instead of creating a new style sheet?

        I am on A5 Version 4351_3710 Visual Studio 10

Chad, Thank you so much for your info. I've advanced enough since I saw your code in a previous thread to make use of it now.
I was wondering if you have any idea how to make the X (close pane) button visible when not hovering, AND how to make it larger.
See my video about it: http://screencast.com/t/h5lb39hphKHj
Thanks so much for any help on that.

Carol the image can be replaced with something you like more this is where you can find the system images however be careful on updates of A5 they could be overwritten.

                  Chad,

Your attached tabui.bmp is exactly what I have been searching for in terms of better tab differentiation, absolutely awesome. I am hopping I can figure out how to insert your code into my application, I am as newbie as they come.

Thanks very much for sharing that code, I have spent hours and hours searching for tab differentiation and yours is the real deal.
