Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Check All and Uncheck All

    Hi All,

I'm sure this has been asked before but searching I cant find it.

I would like to put a button on a grid to allow the user to either select All check boxes or Un-select All, which would be only those that are checked.

The grid displayed is filtered to that user.

Please point me in the right direction.

Re: Check All and Uncheck All

    Hi Keith,
I don't have Version 10 any more so I don't know if this is the same but in V11 by default there is a check box in the header that does exactly that click on it and it checks all the rows and click it again and it un-selects all the rows, Unless you are wanting something more complex. But if not this is great, no code already built in, Hell I love Alpha Five!

      Hi Bruce,

Thanks for your input. This might work in V10 if you can tell me how you got the checkbox you highlighted.

When you say by default, is this a grid or a dialog?

          Hi David,

Thanks for that, is this connected to the logical field I have in the table? If yes how?

Re: Check All and Uncheck All

            hello

all i did was check the selection "has checkbox property and select "multiple pages" property. the checkbox on the label bar appears automatically. clicking it either selects or clears the entire row of records.

which would be only those that are checked.
if you have selected few records and want to clear them you may have to click the button twice. one to select all and the second one to clear the list.
wish there is a method similar to {grid.object}.fliterCheckedRows to clear the the selected rows, then you can just add a button and use that method to clear the rows selected.
            thanks for reading

Ah, No it is a Grid system field so maybe we are talking at cross purposes. Here is what i am talking about. there are a bunch of videos in the V10 video section.

                Hi Bruce,

Thanks for pointing me to the videos. These show how to create a filter, that is not what I'm trying to do.

I need to set a user_id value to each of the rows checked.

Re: Check All and Uncheck All

                  Keith,

There are some good ideas from Bob Moore in the following post

                  http://msgboard.alphasoftware.com/al...elete+checkbox

I have tried a quick test. Put the following in Column Properties, Column Heading

                  Code:
                  Select<br><input type ="checkbox" id="d1" onclick="d_flag = $('d1').checked?true:false;for (i=1;i<={Grid.object}._rowsInGrid;i++){{grid.Object}._setValue('G','Mycheckboxcolumn',i,d_flag);}">
Substitute Mycheckboxcolumn for your field name and you will probably need tp centre the cell contents for things to line up.

                  David.

                    Hi David,

Many thanks for this. The code works just how I want. I could never have worked this out to get this result. Another notch in the learning tree.

How do I centre the cell contents?

                      Hi,

Glad it's what you were looking for.

To centre the checkbox in the row use Cell in-line style

text-align: center; + you may need to fix the width of the column header and the cell

I'm having a slow day today, I cant see Cell in-line Style.

I have CheckBox Properties but can't see how to make the check box centre with the Style Editor.
