javascript variable is returning false????

Using a double click javascript event on an a linked image field. I want to open a new window with the image as the URL.

In javascript this is window.open(images/myimage.jpg)

But the only thing that the linkname variable in the code below returns is "false". I am getting the correct row number, but the LINKED_IMAGE_NAME is not returning any values except for "false".

var linkname = {grid.object}.getValue('G','LINKED_IMAGE_NAME',{grid.rowNumber});
alert('the link is' + linkname);

window.open(linkname);

Ok -- changed the field from an image field to a text label and it works...

But I need it to be an image field... anyone with a work around?

Michael why not just hide the text field and insert an image with the same code.

Frank, thanks for the suggestion.

Ok in the sql builder I added a second field and it automatically gives a new field name of LINKED_IMAGE_NAME1. I then hid it on the grid.

Code now looks like this:

var linkname = {grid.object}.getValue('G','LINKED_IMAGE_NAME',{grid.rowNumber});
window.open(linkname);

So now when I dbl click on the image I can just reference the hidden field and it opens the image in a new window. Yes exactly what I wanted to do.

The easiest way to get the URL of the image is to pull out the 'src' attribute from the control. If you are working on a grid, this will work.

var linkname = $ga('{grid.Componentname}.V.R{grid.rowNumber}.LINKED_IMAGE_NAME','src')
