Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    V11 Dialog - file upload

In version 11, as users are entering data, I would like to include a button to allow for a file upload.
It appears that this is not possible in the new dialog object!
    Is this correct?

    Many thanks

Yes - it is not available currently.

      Thanks for the response Pete.
I have just spent a lot of time learning how to use the dialog.
File upload, was going to be the cream on the cake in the repeating section.
I wonder if this item is on development work-bench?

Re: V11 Dialog - file upload

It is going to be included at some point - you can just call a grid from the dialog to do the upload then close it.

Likewise a bit disappointed , did spend quite some time getting used to the dialog - really thought the new Dialog and the repeating sections was "the business" - a messy file upload is a loss.
I wonder if any of the other "included feature packs" have the same limitation?

Back to the old grid I suppose.

Re: V11 Dialog - file upload

The dialog has an important and prominent place in V11 release.
So the point is really matter of time and priority waiting quietly is the best option

Or you can use this universal method described in this thread: http://msgboard.alphasoftware.com/al...+upload+dialog

How about using a grid for the file upload?

I'm not understand, why nice new feature of v11 "Dialog2" doesn't support File Upload (download) as Action javascript like in the grid ...

send a email to [email protected] and ask or it's on the planning for V11, also don't forget to ask or it's free or only for subscription owners that is/makes the difference these days. you all ready have all the <basic>stuff in the grid components

I'm guessing that file upload was never added to Dialogs? If it has been released and I'm missing it, feel free to let me know.

I was just looking for this and figured I'd bump this back up. Going to try the grid or Steve's suggestion if these are the only other options.

Scott, here is Selwyn's video on File Download in a dialog. Perhaps same method applies to Upload:

thanks, Steve. Much appreciated. I'll take a look. I have a feeling this is going to be a bit of a time suck, but will probably be beneficial in the long run.
