Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    GeoLocation Functions

Is anyone successfully using this feature with build 2373-3862? I am trying to use the feature in its simplest form just getting latitude and longitude but I get no data and firebug reports this error: geoLocateSuccess is not defined

Funny you ask that... I played with it during the night to get it to work.
I will be using it for a while to keep track of the times the bus I ride actually
picks me up and drops me off, but I have plans of using it to help our drivers
    with their checkin calls.

I guess that means you got it working. What are field types for latitude and longitude? I tried decimal and character.

Character. I'll cheat and show what I have for the table setup.
I seem to remember dropping a few options because I couldn't
        get it to work.

          Re: GeoLocation Functions

Thank you for 'cheating'. It turns out that I had to put the grid in an a5w page instead of calling it directly from a button on my main mobile page. It seems to be working OK now.

            Going to have more fun.
The error in the image is from the real website , http://a5.wisux.com/viewit.a5w.
The working preview, and even live preview, displays the page as I expected.

Are you using this on an android device by any chance? I have the geolocation working on my desktop but now does not work on my android phone.

              EDIT
It works OK, just takes awhile.

I've used it from my iphone and my windows 7 based computers.
Let me check with someone in the office that has an android phone.

I wish I could see errors like that as 'fun'. I find them very frustrating.

That is what I will be doing next plotting my geolocatons. I hope you get it solved and 'cheat' a little before I get to that part. I will do the same.

I'm not a fan of android, but the one I tried was able to connect
                    and do the checkin.

                      Re: GeoLocation Functions

The cannot convert number has nothing to do with the map - it started appearing a few builds ago - you need to edit the grid in the current build save an republish.

                        Now I'm more confused.
The build was created and edited with build 2373-3862.

                          Re: GeoLocation Functions

                          hi everyone,
while we are on this topics... i asked few times without a good response.

have you thought about using this geolocation function in a simple.a5w page

trap the user's position, eother as a one time when he/she access the page.

covert the longitude and latitude into session variables
and i know how to save their position into a tracking log file in sql

just not sure how to get the "java? or window values" into sessions
which i am very comfortable in taking them and save to file.

                          appreciate a good guidance

                          thanks

                            Gregg,

Your server is running an old build... you need to be on the same build as your developer copy

I must have gotten distracted when I was updating the machine.
Updated the developer part, but failed to update appserver.
