Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Saving updates in repeating section causes error

I have a dialog with a repeating section. I can save new records in the repeating section without a problem, however, when i edit a field in the repating section and click submit, i get this error.
"Record not found. After Executing SQL SELECT to refresh row in section."

I am sure it is something simple i am missing but i cannot figure it out and i cannot find it in the forum.

    In your dialog's afterDialogValidate.SaveSubmittedDataToTables

    - do you have Use Transactions turned on ?

    - do you have Display Debugging turned on?

i have this in the afterdialogvalidate

      ExecuteServerSideAction("Save Data::SaveData")

Transactions are off and debugging is on.

I'm real new here, but I'm pretty sure you need transactions on....

If you have the debugging on, are you seeing what's happening?

Are you thinking that the records are being posted properly because you aren't getting errors, or because you've seen the new records in your actual database tables?

It will not work with transactions on or off. Here is the screenshots for both. The new records go in with no problem and have been confirmed by opening MySQL.

            JR....

I can't quite follow, but - I will say that when I try to update 2 rows in the same repeating panel - as you're doing, I get the Green Refresh blurb twice - once for each update.

You're only getting the refresh once, because it's failing.

I don't know what I'm talking about but it looks to me like you're mixing your lookupIDs and the LookupValues - and, since they aren't matching the update fails.

or - you're mixing your lookupID and your table's primary Key ID.

in my repeating panel, I have the ID as a bound control, and the pretty, human readable value is an unbound control.

so my update is comparable to
update Table Set LookupID = :NewLookupID where (TableKeyID = :PrimaryKey_1)

            you have:
update Table set LookupValue = :New_LookupValue where (LookupID = :PrimaryKey1)

PS - not sure it will help, but here's a screenshot of mine, that works

Ok, I found the problem, and i should have thought of this. I did not load the primary key...duh!
Hope this helps someone else from wasting hours like me.
