Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Dynamic tabbed-ui text.

    I have a grid that has a tab control. In one of the tab panes I have a notes field. I want to have the text in the tab pane stand out when there is data in the notes tab.

    This is what I have come up with so far in the OnRowRender client-side event. It works OK. I tried to change the class using .className = 'MyClass' but I was unable to get it to work. I am class challenged.
    Code:
    if ({grid.Object}.getValue('G','NOTES',1).length > 0)
    {
    	$('TBI_AP_BROWSE_182052WOIC_AP_EDIT_BBDE_TAB_1R_1.1.TAB').innerHTML = '<font style="font-weight:bold;font-style:italic;">NOTES</font>';
    }
    else
    {
    	$('TBI_AP_BROWSE_182052WOIC_AP_EDIT_BBDE_TAB_1R_1.1.TAB').innerHTML = 'NOTES';
    }
    The ID that I am using is the one I got from the element inspector in firebug.

    My question is this. What is the purpose of the 'Insert Grid Object name' - Insert Object name or ID' builder. Which makes the ID this?

    Code:
    '{grid.componentName}.V.R{grid.rowNumber}._UNBOUND_TAB_PANE_2'
    If I use that Id I get errors and no change. What am I missing.

    Re: Dynamic tabbed-ui text.

    I got this working with the {Grid.ComponentName} placeholder. I feel better now.

    Code:
    if ({grid.Object}.getValue('G','NOTES',1).length > 0)
    {
    	$('{Grid.ComponentName}_TAB_1R_1.1.TAB').innerHTML = '<font style="font-weight:bold;font-style:italic;">NOTES</font>';
    }
    else
    {
    	$('{Grid.ComponentName}_TAB_1R_1.1.TAB').innerHTML = 'NOTES';
    }
    I would still like to know why the ID generated in Alpha does not seem to work. I wasted a lot of time going down that path.

            Sorry Chad I don't know how to make row expander tabs. Do you mean that you have a grid in the linked content of a row expander that has tabs? If so, the code goes in the OnRowRender client-side event of the grid that has the tab control so that would work OK.

              I do mean that yes. I would actually just like to know if it contains records then change the style so that you would know before opening a tab to get a no records found or maybe even hide the tab!

                I'd be interested if anyone knows how to do this for the panes of Tab/Accordion controls for LINKED CONTENT

                Example:
                you're at the DetailView and you have Linked ContentSection, with Tabs

                it would be helpful to 'grey out' the name on the tab if there are no records inside....

                    Or one thing I have always wanted:

                    Parent record filters child records and each child record creates a dynamic tab, with grand-child data displayed on the tab pane.

                    Like a bill of quantities, the project is the parent, each bill page the child which is a dynamic tab and each work section is an item on the tab
