Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Current Build may effect html editor

Hi everyone I am currently having a problem with the html editor either not showing the save and cancel buttons. Another developer is not able to submit the grid as it seems to be not dirty, even though changes have been made.
This seems to be a problem with 3887 and 3888.
I have submitted a bug report and waiting for a response.
I just wanted to give a heads up to other developers to watch for it as a potential problem.

    Hello Chad,

I sent also a bug report yesterday for the same problem. It happens each time you set some height in the HTML editor control. Waiting also for an answer.

Chad - what is your workaround, or has Alpha responded? I saw this post and so went to check one of my grids that has the HTML editor. I didn't make any adjustments, and still there is no Save or Close.

Thats the problem you dont even have to make a change. I am going back to previous build to many spots that its broken and now I am having again problems with grids not saving properly. Work around is change the editor to have no height set.

And Sorry no response from Alpha.

What do you mean that grids are not saving properly? Perhaps I need to check that as well. What other things were broken on yours? I'm spending the day going through all my grids that used a Display Format from the builder for currency or comma that was apparently an old one and doesn't work in latest build. Having to change the display format for numbers on a whole lot of my grids, but is probably a better format, so I'm doing it even though Alpha is working to fix that issue.

I have been having issues where if a grid has a checkbox and you make a change and then try and submit it the grid seems to not think that its dirty.

                    Here is response from Alpha:
We are working on it. Please be patient. We are also still working on the slow grid problem that only shows up in IE 8

In your ckEditor demo site, when you click on the Dialog2 example, there is an error message "Error executing onDialogExecute event: Error executing event 'onDialogExecute ': command: e.control.content = _data.content Not found _data not found."

Jamie - fixed. Interesting, the latest patch is the only difference.

Frank, you can go to www.ckeditor.com and work through the examples and API to make the editor work in your environment. I spent many weeks doing this in order to come up with the module sold at AlphaToGo. There are a lot of things that just work better as a low cost module rather than endless explaination and discussion on the board. Something sold, even if cheap, has the author backing it up, to guarantee it will function. Pat and I had this running on V9 and V10 for ages. V11 is a bit different, especially with the new dialog. The module that I provide has been honed to work in V10 and V11, grid and dialog and with special features to make altering the font, language, style, orientation, etc all from the grid/dialog or system wide from a Setup file.

Thanks Steve. I will look at that. I did not realize that the item you have listed is complete. I get 'replacing' the built in editor confused with replacing the editor in the development environment which is what I would really like to do.
