Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Edit Combo issue

    Hi Forum

Hope someone can help me with what I think maybe a bug in build 3903.

I have a sql data connection on a Grid with updateable Detail View

In the detailed view I have a field Customer on which I have placed a Lookup / Edit Combo connected to a table called customer.
The Edit combo set to return customer_name and in the Fill-in fields Contact and Tel_No all from the customer table.

My problem is that everything as it should when adding a new record, but when I try use the Edit Combo when editing a record I an error see attached.

I have lookat this on and off all week and tried numerous ways to try and resolve the problem, I have installed the latest build but still the same fault.

Is anyone else seeing this or can someone try a similar setup and see if they have the same issue.

    Thanks

    Robert

    Re: Edit Combo issue

An Update on my edit combo issue, the fault only appears when the Load data method is set to AtRenderTime.
Everything works fine when the Load data method is set to Ajax Callback.

    Thanks

        Re: Edit Combo issue

This is working fine for me and I have the same build. I built a new Grid with editable Detail View. One of the detail view fields is the Lookup, selecting data from another table. All MySQL. With either Ajax Callback or AtRenderTime no issues with either a new record or an existing record. I don't recognize the error. Sorry I can't point you toward a solution. If your grid isn't too complicated maybe post it with your SQL Tables and we could have a look.

          Hi David

Thanks for the reply, my problem as noted above only appears when I add Fill-in fields to the Edit Combo and only when I try to edit the record, no issues when adding a new record.

The adding of Fill-in fields seems to, be the issue..

          Thanks

              Hi David

Thanks again for the reply, I have a problem which I have no answer to, I didn't have an issue with the Edit Combo in before but at the start of last week I got the error I have detailed, I have tried everything re-installing the latest patch and the latest app server patch both on the pc and server. I have done lots of tests with new sql connections and test dbase's but I still get the bug.

It's now holding a job i am doing up, and i have still be unable to find a reason for the issue.

              Thanks David

Any way you could zip and post the grid?
