Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Show grid row button when datetime field is less than one day prior to system date.

    Show grid row button when date/time field is less than one day prior to system date. I appreciate any ideas on how to accomplish this.
    I haven't been able to get the grid date time field in a format that I can work with it in the client side show hide section.

    I call a java script function in the show/hide area.

    function CurrentPayPeriod(){
    if (Today() >= SCalDate() && Today() <= ECalDate())
    {
    var CPP = 1;
    }
    else
    {
    CPP = 0;
    }
    return (CPP);
    }

    The Today() function returns (month + "/" + day + "/" + year);

      Thank You for your response. Love Salt Lake City. Do SCalDate() and ECalDate() refer to grid Fields?

        Yes. A function that gets the data from the grid. I use this for my Time card. When someone fills out their time card they can only pick between those two dates which is the pay period. The concept is the same. I disable action buttons depending on the status of create, read, update, delete.

          I'd sure appreciate it if you could show the code for the function SCalDate() or ECalDate(). I have the date comparison working but need to calculate it for each grid row not just the selected row using {grid.object}._selectedRow;

          Heading to Lake Powell this weekend.

            Lake Powell is awesome. Do you go out of Wahweap or Antelope Point?

            Okay I tested this and it works.

            This is in the show/hide of the button: DateBeg > Today()
            1. Datebeg is a column in the grid.
            2. Today() is a function to get the system date.

            function Today(){
            var currentTime = new Date();
            var month = currentTime.getMonth() + 1;
            var day = currentTime.getDate();
            var year = currentTime.getFullYear();

            if (month < 10){
            month = "0" + month;
            }

            if (day < 10){
            day = "0" + day;
            }

            return (month + "/" + day + "/" + year);
            }

              My brother and I own a small houseboat which is currently in the slip at Wahweap. Love to sit in the sun on the boat and learn/program Alpha5. Thanks a bunch for your help Lee. The only difference is that I'm showing/hiding a button in the same row based upon the value of a date time field. Will have it figured out shortly. We'll have to have an Alpha5 programming party on the lake.

                That code works that way. Try it out. I can only get Internet at Powell in the AM. You?

                  Their internet there is tricky to connect to I often have to delete the remembered connection and hope the webpage pops up asking for policy acceptance. The MIS guy is helpful though. The problem seems to be reconnecting after already being connected perhaps hence the difficulty in the PM.

                    Re: Show grid row button when datetime field is less than one day prior to system dat

                    Thanks Lee, This works like a charm. The format of the grid date field needs to match the format mm/dd/yyyy so that the comparison works properly. I modified the function so that the button would show for transactions of the current day only by subtraction a 1 from the day value and this works for a 1 but not a higher value since 10/01/2012 does compare as greater than 10/00/2012.

                    function Yesterday(){
                    var currentTime = new Date();
                    var month = currentTime.getMonth() + 1;
                    var day = currentTime.getDate() - 1;
                    var year = currentTime.getFullYear();

                    if (month < 10){
                    month = "0" + month;
                    }

                    if (day < 10){
                    day = "0" + day;
                    }

                    return (month + "/" + day + "/" + year);
                    }

                    The 1 is added to month since JavaScript counts Jan = 0
