Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

      Thanks for the clarification, so this is handle by the A5 callback. The (e as P) is a Pointer variable that can have many properties each with its own value like this:
      Code:
      dim colors as p
      colors.Blue = 1
      colors.White =2
      colors.Red = 3
      That make sense. Then it is needed (e as p) for my e.dataSubmitted.UNIQUE_ID or e wouldn't have the (dot)dataSubmitted. Right?

        Yes, so I believe the "e" object is being is being pass automatically to your function since you do have access to the e.dataSubmitted.UNIQUE_ID in your function, but my logic tells me that your function should be called as deleteCurrentRecord(e) assuming you have an object "e" in the event from were you are calling your function.

          I don't have anything in the event that calls my function except the function name. From my understanding, alpha automatically puts a bunch of data into the e object each time you do an ajax callback.

                Fred, what are you talking about; the delete record function or something else?
                As far as the actionscripting, it should be an option in the dialogs "onDialogInitialize" event.

                    I have v11 and I have this option.
                    Make sure you have the primary key specified for each table in the table binding Part...

                      Yeah,
                      Are you possibly not looking in the proper place Fred? I am on a pre-release ATM but when I wrote my dialogs I was on the official November release. Both have the option for this actionscripting in the OnDialogInitialize event.

                        Fred,

                        Did you ever figure out why it was not showing up as an option in your dropdown for Action Scripting?

                        I am having the same problem with it not showing up also. I have checked all of my databindings for the child tables and everything has the primary keys defined.
                        Tried pasting it in as Michael Vaughn did with same result.

                        Could it have to do with my tables being complex keys?, i.e. it takes two or more columns to define a unique row and not just a single column that is autonumbered?

                        Alpha is updated to current version.

                            I am having same problem and don't have the server action

                            ExecuteServerSideAction("Get Primary Keys for Parent Table::Load_Primary_keys_for_Parent_Table")

                            I also seem to be missing other actions that people mention. Do I have to load these from somewhere or are these in one of those extra packs alpha sells.

                            Thank You
