Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    How to remove a security group value form a5ws_getgroupsDialog()?

    Hi All,
    I have a list of security groups that I want to show in as checkboxes for the end user to select from, but in this list, there is a group "Developers" which I do not want to show in the CheckBox, how could I remove the "Developers" line from the value returned by a5ws_getgroupsDialog()?
    Here is a sample of the list returned by a5ws_getgroupsDialog()
    Administrators|a25a558ce72d419ebaa0296f99424053
    Developers|6809551fd2b44695ac4344fd8064d724
    Managers|b27ebf36d6c340e5acc0f3091f215883
    Providers|e4f1c8a193c14ccea71f602d2ea78e94
    ReadOnly Users|db29422ba8bf4480a6480aee7a7a3a49
    I want to remove the line containing the "Developers" group so I can have this:
    Administrators|a25a558ce72d419ebaa0296f99424053
    Managers|b27ebf36d6c340e5acc0f3091f215883
    Providers|e4f1c8a193c14ccea71f602d2ea78e94
    ReadOnly Users|db29422ba8bf4480a6480aee7a7a3a49
    I was experimenting in the Interactive windows, but could not found a function that will return the line number where the "Developers" word was found, or something along those line.
    Thanks!!!

    Something like:

    dim FullList as C
    FullList = <<%str%
    Administrators|a25a558ce72d419ebaa0296f99424053
    Developers|6809551fd2b44695ac4344fd8064d724
    Managers|b27ebf36d6c340e5acc0f3091f215883
    Providers|e4f1c8a193c14ccea71f602d2ea78e94
    ReadOnly Users|db29422ba8bf4480a6480aee7a7a3a49
    %str%

    dim MyGroups as C
    MyGroups = *for_each(groupname, word(groupname, 1, "|"),FullList)

    dim j as N
    j = word_num(MyGroups, "Developers")

    if j>0 then
    FullList = *line_remove(FullList, j)
    end if

    'EDIT - I added the "then" in if-then after my initial post

      Hi Andy,
      Thanks a lot for taking the time to test and provide this code, I really appreciate it.
      I have to admit, it is a bit tricky, I was close, but I could not properly understand how to use the *for_each function to get the line number of the "Developers" group value in the list.

      I added some comments and renamed some variables for clarity for myself. Thanks again
      Code:
      debug(1)

      '-- 1/5/2013: I need to remove the "Developers" group from the list of
      ' security groups. Andy Gill provided the code below to do the this task in forums

        No probs. Glad to help.
        One note, I think we are missing the "then" part of the if then statement, so you could add this to yours (I will do this to mine for completeness).
