Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    UX Dialog (Version 12 Beta)

I created a UX Dialog which consist in 5 parts:
    • Invoice Header
    • Customer Info
    • Auto in sale info
    • Auto TradeIn info
    • Items

After this I created 5 tables in the bind section using the invoice number as the linking field.
The problem is that when submitting the info the only info saved correctly is the one in the Invoice Header and the Items section (repeating part).
This are the parts that the bind genie automatically recognized when starting the wizard. I created 4 aliases in total in the Top Level Part (InvoiceHeader, CustomerInfo, AutoSale, AutoTradeIn).

What is the issue I'm having that the data is not being saved in the CustomerInfo, AutoSale, AutoTradeIn tables?

When submitting the UX the info the InvoiceHeader and in the Items is kept in the UX but not the info in the rest of the parts of the UX.
When I go to see the tables the invoicenumber field, the linking field, is correctly saved in the invoiceheader table and in the items table, but in the rest it says 0.

There is no V12 Forum, that's why I specify it in the Title.

Without screen shots of all your table bindings and linking, it is hard to analyze the problem. Have you gone to Server Side "AfterDialogValidate", Action Scripting, Save Submitted Data to Tables, and click on Display Debugging Info to see what is having after you click on Submit Button?

Re: UX Dialog (Version 12 Beta)

Ok, I see what is the problem now. When loading the UX I checked the option to assign the invoice number at the start of data entry, but that is not happening until I click the submit button. That is why the other aliases are not getting the invoice number passed to them and always they are assigning 0 to that field. How do I manage to to get the invoice number be generated as soon as the form (UX) is loaded?

Re: UX Dialog (Version 12 Beta)

That's beyond my limited knowledge. Maybe with an Ajax Call Back. Is the Invoice No. an incremental field. Is there an Invoice No. field in Customer Info, Auto in Sale Info, and Auto TradeIn info in which to link them to Invoice Header table? The Items table is working I assume because of linkage to Invoice Header table. Otherwise, you need to move the assigned Invoice No. to those three tables after dialog validate somehow. Being that you are using V12 beta, you may want go directly to Selwyn. I have been using UX for testing new mobile app functions.

The linkage is done correctly. If I enter the invoice number manually it get passed to all the tables, the problem is that the number is not generated until I click the submit button, and at that time the other table get 0 as the invoice number passed to them. I tried entering it manually and everything is working perfectly.

I can only guess here since I'm not beta testing v12, but it's not clear to me from your first post whether the other tables/fields are, in fact, bound? If they are not, there's your answer. But if they are, it sounds like a bug. The whole purpose of dialog2 is to handle scenarios like this. You shouldn't have to do an ajax callback first. But again, I know nothing of v12 except for a bunch of videos I have watched.

Re: UX Dialog (Version 12 Beta)

Are you using UX for mobile app or for some problem this pre-release solves. You may want to re-phrase your thread as dialog question, instead of UX. You may get better responses then.

The bound is done correctly. If I enter the invoice number manually, the number is seen by the other tables inside the UX and all info is correctly saved in each table. The only problem I'm having is that the invoice number needs to be an autoincrement value and to be generated as soon as the dialog is loaded. Right now the invoice number is generated when I click the submit button and by that time the other tables just get 0 as the invoice number.

I reported it to Selwyn to see if this is a bug or something wrong I'm doing. Will get to you when I get a reply from him. Thank you all.
