Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Hi Al,

I duplicated the table and checked the browse tab in the CP, the browses are still awol.

Edit: Also, I opened the report in design view, clicked on the menu item Report and while there is no browse, there is the word, 'Grid'. I clicked on that and a window pops up, see attached. However it's not for placing a grid on the report as clicking OK simply closes the window. What a hoot.

Yes, All boxes checked and the table has been packed at least 4 times, 2 last night an twice tonight.

        Edit:

I opened the folder and copied the files for the table in question, pasting them into a new folder. Then, I opened the new folder and the table. Upon going to the Browse tab in the CP, I saw the same 3 browses as before. (See Bwse1). These browses should not be there because they are no based on the table in question. I then created a new browse and when saving it, I saw the three browses I created for this table. I gave the 4th browse a name and saved it, then closed it. would you just look at that? Now the Browse tab in the CP shows the 4 browses based on this table, which is what it's supposed to do. The big question is, what caused this to happen and what else will run amuck?

you are looking at the toolbox, not there. look up all the way on the top where file edit etc lined up. there you will see an option - reports, click on that and then follow the steps to import the browse you have defined. just as a precaution, keep the detail section large enough to accommodate the browse.
          Sure I did - see post 6.

          Kenn,
I hope I didn't mislead you now that I see you have this in the web section, I was thinking desktop.

            Re: dbf Reports

Since the table in the new folder appear to be properly working, I copied the table files in that folder and pasted them into the main folder, from where it came. Now for the result. I opened the app and clicked on the Browse tab in the CP. The browses built on the table in question were not there, only the browses built on other tables were there. I created a new browse, saved it and the checked the Browse tab in the CP. None of the browses based on this table are there.

Next, I created a browse for each of the tables and named them Bwse4 through Bwse10. As you can see the attached (Bwse CP2) shows that Bwse4, Bwse6 and Bwse8 does not show in the Browse Tab of the CP. My assessment is this is not related to just one table and may not be an issue with any of the tables but in the underling code of AA for creating or saving a browse. Could this be a BUG?

              Hi Robin,

I know gandhi works wit v11. Do you have v11 or v12? I am using v12 and posted it in the v11 board because it seems the v12 users are mostly mobile developers and v11 users are more web developers. Thus, I'm wondering if there might be a difference between v11 and v12 as far as the tool box and the menu categories are concerned. As gandhi instructed, I opened the menu item Reports in the CP but found no 'Browse' in the drop down list. As stated above, I did find 'Grid' but hat lead nowhere. If I could include a grid in my report, that would solve the whole problem, as far as the report is concerned. The browse issue in the CP, well, that's totally different issue.

                Kenn,
If you are copying over tables from another directory, you might want to drop the table first and then add it back to the adb. And then before doing anything else on those tables, do a database compact. I do not have v12, so do not know if the feature to import a browse into a report layout still exists. You could always use the layout tables report feature I suppose.

                  ken,
I am afraid you are mistaken. this is not the grid you are thinking of, not the ones in web side like grid, dialog etc. it is the grid where you place your control that look like dot dot in the back ground and the ruler on the top. it is something like town planning or garden planning. to understand uncheck those two options, click okay and look at the report designer.
                  thanks for reading

Miracles still do happen. I did as you suggested and lo and behold, the browses appeared. Importing a browse is in v12 is still there.
