Help with code please

I have the following code in the CanUpdateRecord event of a basic grid. The issue is that I am supposed to see an error message when veteran is .f. and when pinned is .t.

Here is the code:

function CanUpdateRecord as v (DataSubmitted as P, Args as p, PageVariables as p, Result as p)
	
dim v_veteran as L
dim v_pinned as L

v_veteran = convert_type(DataSubmitted.veteran,"L")
v_pinned = convert_type(DataSubmitted.pinned,"L")

if v_veteran = .f. .and. v_pinned = .t. then
	PageVariables.Result.Cancel = .t.
	PageVariables.Result.ErrorHTML = "Patient is not a veteran so it cannot be pinned"
end if

I have verified the values of the variables and I can't understand why it doesn't give you an error since the PageVariables.Result.Cancel = .t.
I have attached a picture with the value of the variables using the debug screen.

Anyway, let's start with the default function prototype:

function CanUpdateRecord as v (DataSubmitted as P, Args as p, PageVariables as p, Result as p )
with PageVariables
Result.Cancel = .f.
Result.ErrorHTML = ""
end with
end function

So, what you want is

	Result.Cancel = .t.
	Result.ErrorHTML = "Patient is not a veteran so it cannot be pinned"

Try that, see if it works for you.

It seems the issue comes when I reference Pagevariables.Result.Cancel outside the "with Pagevariables"
I when ahead to test it like this.

function CanUpdateRecord as v (DataSubmitted as P, Args as p, PageVariables as p, Result as p)
PageVariables.Result.Cancel = .T.
PageVariables.Result.ErrorHTML = "Should See error but no error comes out"
end function

Now if I do it this way it works

function CanUpdateRecord as v (DataSubmitted as P, Args as p, PageVariables as p, Result as p)
with PageVariables
  Result.Cancel = .T.
 Result.ErrorHTML = "It works"
end with

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
