Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Server Problem

I call tech support early this morning (I'm in Philly) but it is 2.30 and no response yet. May be someone could help me.
My alpha application server keeps doing this every 20 minutes, when accesign an application gives me "This server's demo mode has expired" the only way to keep working is to restart alpha five.

I never used this server as a test base. I installed the alpha aplication server and entered the license number.
    Does anybody has any idea?

    Re: Server Problem

Sometimes when you enter the server license number and activate it, you get the green light that everything is fine, but in fact the license number doesn't "take". If you go back into the server configuration you will see that the license number doesn't show.

So, the result is, you get the "demo mode" message.

You can try shutting down the server and restarting it, and entering the license number again....sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

The only foolproof technique I've found is to start AlphaFive, select Application server, and enter the license number through A5. If you don't have A5 on your server (you just have the Application Server) then download the trial version to the server and run it to enter the license number.

          1) Make sure that you are using the right reg. code for the appropriate piece of software.

          2) Don't know how you entered the reg. code, but many do copy and paste. Sometimes when copying the code, you also get a space character or some other hidden character.

            Re: Server Problem

In my experience, if you have the green light, then you should not need to reenter the number. It either works or it doesn't.

If the server works for a while, and then you get the message, then I suspect you may have a link left in your application that points to another domain (such as your development machine). Check the URL when you get the message.

The code is pointing to the right server (after i restart the server i press the refresh button and works for 20 min). Does any body nows how to get in touch with tech support. I have left a couple of messages sincce yesterday but they don't return my calls. We were supposed to have the aplication live yesterday, i just got a call from the president of the company, it dosn't look good explaining that Alpha doesn't return calls.
