Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

500 internal server error appearing very often

    Hi

We have an ERP system which is completly develped in A5 V9. After implementing at client side very oftenly "500 internal server error" message displays. For example we have a button , on click of that we have some code may to redirect the page or some other operation. This will work most of the time perfectly but only some times "500 internal server error" is arising. So that time once we refresh the page and click again that button it will work perfectly.
I am facing this problem for a long time. Earlier it was not coming very often, but now we have certain forms which contains alot of components and many page refresing and lot of button clicks. So this form iam facing the problem very frequently. It doen't mean that that form wont work. It will give the correct results, but still some time this error coming up.

*** Some times the error specify a particular component name. But that component with the same data inputs do work most of the time without this error.

Why this is coming? is it anything regarding with the network? or from the programming side?

If it is programming side error, why it is working most of the times without this error?

I have attached screen shots of the two types of errors. Please have a look at this and your replys for this thread will be appreciated.

    Thank you

Re: 500 internal server error appearing very often

    Sanjay,

I've sometimes seen that error when saving a component, but never when running a component.

The first error, of course, (and probably the second one) indicates that the trouble is in the component, so that's where you should look for problems.

Here's what I would do. First, make sure that your A5V9 and WAS are up to date with the latest patches.

Unless you need otherwise, set your path resolution preference to publish time, not run time.

If you are getting that problem on a page with many components on it, you need to isolate the problem, so build a page with just that one component and see if you have the same problem.

Without seeing the component, there's not much more I can suggest.

Thank you very much for your reply

This error occur for me sometimes while saving too.
I will try to update the patches first and will get back to you.
As u said it may be component error. I tried to put the same component in the new page and tried. Most of the time it will work with out showing error. But some times it shows the same error. If the error is regarding the component why it is working sometimes?

      Thank you
