Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Re: I have lost my Mine

Where are your data tables being published? My guess would be that they are being saved in an unexpected location on your WAS. It should go to c:\data I think

On your local machine, the security files typically publish to c:\a5webroot (along with the pages). they are not in the directory with the other tables.

Pat - he's not referring to the security files. That's the local users table. I know, I gave it to him.

Nick, as in the email you sent me, not enough information here. Need to know the page you are trying to open, a copy of the script it is trying to run, etc. Need the FULL error message which should include the name of the page, and other details. Maybe the script is missing the [PathAlias.ADB_Path], which is a common omission.

Re: I have lost my Mine

Ok thanks for some support here BUT here is the strange thing.

I turned off WAS and ran the server in A5 and said publish using the LAN profile I setup and open index.a5w. It opened OF COURSE RIGHT.

I then went to a different Machine on the network and was ale to open in a browser http://192.168.5.16 and it opened the index page and any other page.
WHAT the server in A5 is local only but it ran on other workstations yet the WAS does not SEE the DATA FILES, Like I said does not SEE the DATA FILES.

Error is can not find the web_users.dbf upon typing in http://192.168.5.16 or http://192.168.5.16/index.a5w

          This is very strange.

Now I check another install and I had the data directory c:\a5jobs\koster as a share - shared as "DATA"
And I had the A5webroot shared as "WEBROOT"

I do not have this type of setup here?

Re: I have lost my Mine

To All interested to why I thought this was publishing it was not it was code I added to a header file that is called on every page of the site.

            Good session.online = a5_get_records_in_query("[PathAlias.ADB_Path]\web_users.dbf","Regsource = \"Online\"")

            BAD 'session.online = "("a5_get_records_in_query("[PathAlias.ADB_Path]\web_users","Regsource = \"Online\"")"

For some reason Steve figured out that with the a5_get_records_query needs the .dbf in the syntax......Steve said he has seen that before and acts that way sometimes. So Steve was able to get this resolved online with me. Thanks to Steve and his brightness.

Oh an Steve I actually did do a search for the web_users in the code areas and it looked good to me.

Ok can go into the weekend with fresh ideas.. Have to fix up Blueberry site now with a clear mind.......LOL
