Question about import() & the code editor

I just created an import to import ascii text data into a database.

I used the new import wizard to create the import. After creating the import I copied the code generated by the wizard into the code editor in an attempt to understand how the import operation worked.

In the code editor the functions are shown in green text. For most of the functions when I click on a function I get help with function and the required arguments for that function. However when I click on the import() function nothing happens.

My question is two fold; am I missing something or not doing something right?
What do I need to do to get help with the import() function and secondly I have searched for a description of the import() function and it's arguments without success.

The wizard genereated code which included the following:

import.type = 1
import.names = "none"
import. ...

I would like to know what the various import.types are and which of the other generated arguments are required.

In order to run the import you have created use:

import.run()

There is no function import() which is why no help pops up.
Open help from menu or press F1 and go to Index and/or Search tab and type in import - there are lots of references.

The import runs fine when I run it interactively this is not my problem.

For example I want to know what import.type = 1 equates to (what type of import is this?), what other types of import.type values are appropriate and what they are.

I have searched all of the help systems I can find and I cannot find any information related to this.

I'm not trying to be argumentative; I just want to understand the code. The Code Editor thinks the import() statement is a function because to was rendered in green type along with all of the other functions.

As Garry stated, use the help file and enter in Import. I came up with this page by doing so after looking at maybe 3 other entries....I think it is what you are wanting. Also, I tend to agree with Garry in that there is no documented import() function.....but there is a table.import() function. Action Scripting produces the import() function but it is basically an internal Alpha function....normally the ones that are documented are the ones to use.

Mike and Gary I have found all of the help data you are refering to and none of it references the information I'm looking for.

Most of the items are self explanatory, howerver I would like to know what other options are availiable for the import.type = 1.

For example is import.type = 2 valid and if so what type of import is it? What other options are availiable for import.name = ?
